I read an article recently that reminded me that sometimes we are way past tired. The world calls it exhausted, but I would say I’m weary. Worn thin. You can see it if you happen to bump into me. I keep thinking if I just sit by the pool a little bit, or get more sleep I’ll feel better.

But sometimes it just takes longer to exhale than that. What my heart needs more than anything is restoration. Rest is certainly part of that. To be sure. But I know in the deepest parts of my soul it is going to take an extended amount of time digging into the Word and leaning in closely to the heart of my good, good shepherd.

I still don’t know what that looks like practically. I don’t know how much I’ll be writing on my blog or in a newsletter. I just wanted you to know that as words swirl around in my head, sometimes they land here and at other times they don’t land at all.

One thing I will be giving attention to is the first book in my new series called The Girlfriends’ Guide to the Bible. Book 1 is coming out in a couple of months on Hebrews. I wrote that book LAST summer. I know, I can’t believe it has been a year either. Is Jesus Worth It? was the groundwork the Lord needed to put down as I walked this road the past few weeks. Hebrews has always been my “pit” book and it is helping me once again gain a foothold of faith. God’s Word does that you know.img_20161118_075824

I love this description of the book and series by my publisher, Harvest House:

When you realize there’s nowhere to go but into the arms of Jesus, you’re in good company. Stacey Thacker, author of Fresh Out of Amazing, knows what it’s like to feel closed in and worn out. She invites you to join her in exploring the refreshment awaiting every weary soul in the book of Hebrews.

The Girlfriends’ Guide to the Bible series offers fresh, friendly, and faith-renewing wisdom on specific books of the Bible—perfect for individuals and women’s groups alike.

I have a copy of it sitting beside me as I write this post. I’m working my way back through it in awe of what the Lord has spoken over my heart. He has reminded me of his ability to keep my world from dissolving, that the Gospel is greater than all of my fears, where I can find true LIFE, and that if I want to love and serve God with my life—it is going to take endurance.  Oh friends, Hebrews is a book for all of us who think we aren’t going to make it. We will. Because true faith perseveres.

Is Jesus Worth It? is all about starting conversations that have purpose. I’d love to have a few conversations with you in the next few weeks. These summer chats would be on things like being fear(less), idols (that creep into our lives), faith, endurance, and how to keep walking with Jesus when life is just plain hard.

Stay tuned.

xo,

Stacey

P.S. Thank you for your continued prayers for our family. Mike is scheduled to return to work on Monday. Oh the grace of God is greater than we can fathom! Even still, recovery is a well-worn path for us. Good and hard absolutely do go hand in hand. Keep praying.
