“Grace. It’s what we crave most when our guilt is exposed. It’s the very thing we are hesitant to extend when we are confronted with the guilt of others—especially when their guilt has robbed us of something we consider valuable.
Therein is the struggle, the struggle for grace. It’s this struggle that makes grace more story than doctrine. It’s the struggle that reminds us that grace is bigger than compassion or forgiveness. That struggle is the context for both. When we are on the receiving end, grace is refreshing. When it is required of us, it is often disturbing. But when correctly applied, it seems to solve just about everything. This struggle is not new; it has been going on since the beginning.”
—Andy Stanley
Refreshing.
Struggle.
Disturbing.
Do these words come to mind when you think about Grace? Do you see the story of Grace weaved throughout Scripture? In your own life? Is there someone you need to extend Grace to, but are finding it difficult?
During the month of February, Grace Notes will be focusing on the book The Grace of God, by Andy Stanley. The lovely people at Thomas Nelson are sweetening the deal by giving you a chance to win a copy for yourself. All you have to do is leave a comment to be entered. Love your heart for this series on grace. Without grace I am lost.
Would love to read this book. So thankful everyday for his Amazing Grace.
Thank you for your wonderful words in this post, thank you for the suggestion of this wonderful book. Thankfully lately I have been able to take some time and read for me (not reviewing books for my children) and I am excited to check out this book. I hope to join your reading schedule as well.
I’m in! 🙂 Although I just read through this book, I am so excited to go back through and glean fresh new perspective in addition to reviewing the truths that spoke so loudly the first time through.
If I were blessed to win this copy I already know who I would give it to.

(If this is a duplicate comment, I apologize. Tried to post one already and it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace?)
Grace, grace, God’s grace
Grace that is greater than all my sin
Grace, grace, God’s grace
(oops forgot the last line! Somebody help me…)
Grace, grace, God’s Grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within.
Grace, Grace God’s Grace,
Grace that is greater than all my sin.
Singing along with you! (so miss that!)
Grace definitely seems to be the key word lately! Such a rich word!
I read a fabulous def’n of it this week from Dr. Mills:
grace, charis: It is the word for God’s grace as extended to sinful man. It signifies unmerited favor, undeserved blessing, a free gift.
That is perfect Kristy. Thanks for sharing!
Just Facebook’ed your giveaway. (Plus I mentioned it in my blog post today.)
I would love to read this book with you guys.
Hi Stacey, I am reading Bringing up Girls by James Dobson and in his book he references the book called Everyday Graces: A child’s book of good manners by Karen Santorum. I know this is not what you are referencing in your blog when you are talking about Grace but it just reminded me of you and thought it would be a great addition to your library. I think it’s so important to teach girls to be ladies. I especially love that it teaches manners using classic literature with poems and stories. I am adding it to my list to get for my girls. Hope you get a chance to check it out.
I have seen that book Karen and it looks amazing!
I have wanted to read this book since I first heard about it (but haven’t had the opportunity to obtain a copy yet). Grace is one of the most beautiful things in existence.
Sounds like a great series! Thank you for this kind opportunity.

The grace is amazing. I’d love to win the book!
I would love to have a copy of your book. I again find myself back into GOD’s refining Fire, and it’s hotter than ever. But, in the Fire I Praise GOD and continually Pray….”Lord, I TRUST YOU….I trust You with my Life and I Trust You with all of me….and I trust You with all I have…..and I Trust You more than I Trust Myself. ” The Blessing in it all is, “I’m in the Fire, but I don’t smell like SMOKE.” I’ve periodically have been here… and soon I hope God sees his reflection in me.
I have been reading “One Thousand Gifts” and thinking a lot about grace. I would love to read this book next as I am feeling quite a call to explore more about grace. Thanks for the beautiful post on (In)Courage today 🙂
It is a great follow up to Ann’s book. And thank you for your sweet words! So glad you stopped by!
Would love to read this book and follow along with the study…thanks for the giveaway.
