6 years ago, I took her to a Kindergarten Sunday school class for the first time. In 6 more, she’ll be a senior. Today, I sat in 6th grade orientation for our church’s student ministry. So here we are, somewhere in the middle of my mothering and I’m counting my gifts, because if I don’t I’ll be a sobbing mess on the floor wishing for the days when she actually fit on my lap.
Counting 1,000 Gifts
#971 “She’s the girl who knows the Bible front to back.” {said about her}
#972 The teachers who have poured into her, other than me.
#973 Every kind word said by others who see Jesus in her.
#974 How being her mom pushes me to keep growing in Christ.
#975 Our constant conversation about growing up.
#976 The faithful women who are standing just up ahead who will be mentoring her : I have prayed for you!
#977 How God is going to use her.
#978 That she listens when He speaks.
I remember having E in both kindergarten home school and on Wednesday nights those 6 years ago. She was always such a sweetheart and gentle big sister. I am pleased to hear the kind comments made about her and hear what God is doing in her life. Blessings to her (and you) as you embark on this new phase in her life.
Oh Melissa what a sweet thing to say! She is such a blessing! 6th grade seems so grown up these days. But we are trying to hold on to little girl as long as we can!
I miss seeing you and your precious family!
There is something about the oldest–perched at the edge of the nest and ready to fly. Praying for your “letting go” (little by little) and watching what God will do . . .
It does go fast, doesn’t it? I know what you mean about how counting the gifts helps somehow:) A wonderful list of gratitude here honoring your girl and the way you see Jesus in her. As a mom of girls I truly appreciate this.
Amy, I’m so glad you stopped by today, thank you for your words of affirmation!
