Thou art the Lord who slept upon the pillow
Thou art the Lord who soothed the furious sea
What matter beating wind and tossing billow, if only we are in the boat with thee?
Hold us in quiet through the age long minute, while thou art silent and the wind is shrill,
Can the boat sink, Lord, while thou art in it?
Can the heart faint that waiteth on thy will?
Amy Carmichael, Towards Jerusalem
He wants you to know, that He is in the boat with you.
Hope floats with you.
And when it gets really bad, Hope is the anchor that holds.
You don’t have to be the one who holds it all together, He already has that covered.
This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Hebrews 6:19
I love this. I blogged about having hope in the midst of a storm today.
Love that we are on the same page! How neat is that! I’ll drop by when I get my second cup of coffee!!! 🙂
I haven’t commented every day (life is a bit crazy ’round here), but I get your blog by email and every morning, as I lay there reading it…it brings a smile. Thank you for your series!
“Hope” is no longer just a word in my vocabulary, it is what I do everyday.
Oh, that is rich Cami. I am starting a series next month @modsquadblog (mothers of daughters) in partnership with @themobsociety (mothers of boys) and we are focusing on Hope. Can I quote you? 🙂
I love, “You don’t have to be the one who holds it all together, He already has that covered.” Amen!
This is an absolutely beautiful post. I love the thought that He is in the boat with me!
stacey…..this was so very timely and helpful for me today. my dad is dying and we’re in limbo right now just waiting for the call. i don’t have to hold it all together because he has that covered…what a beautiful reminder.
I am so sorry Patty. I’m praying for you and your family.
Amen, amen. This spring as we were facing my husband’s second open-heart surgery, I wrote a post called “Hope Matters,” inspired by having sung “The Solid Rock.” You remember that song? This is the verse that really spoke to me:
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Our souls do give way sometimes! But we are not adrift, for he is our hope and stay.
As an elderly friend of mine used to say: “Thank God for Jesus!”
On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand!
Love it Richella! Love how God has been your stay! Blessings!
