“As I am purposefully grateful for daily gifts all around me, joy fills my heart and I find Jesus right there at the kitchen table, while taking a walk with my girls, or tucking them into bed. When I find Him, my heart can’t help but worship.”
From the new Hope for the Weary Mom available October 23, 2012.
This is my goal: To be purposefully grateful for every gift in my life. Some weeks I do a better job of it than others. Every week, I come here to write them. Because even when the gifts are a little harder to find, it is important to keep counting. Remembering is good for the soul. Especially when the soul is attached to a weary mom.

I wonder, what simple gift are you thankful for today? Care to share it in the comments so I can rejoice with you?
WOW! This is my 1sst time visiting your blog and it is awesome! Thank you for sharing such a great post!
I was recently given as a gift the small book called “one thousand gifts”. We’ve just started reading it and I was inspired to start my own list of 1000 things. My question is–how do you not repeat the same gifts? I’d need to have my list in a spreadsheet so I could alphabetize the list to quickly check if I’ve written it down before. I’m only up to 65 things and I’ve already attempted to repeat things. I have enjoyed reading your lists, though I am new to your site after having purchased just a few weeks ago the small ebook Hope for the Weary Mom. That is SOO me. Anyway, I am thankful to live in a land of seasons again–FOUR seasons. Not just hot season and cool season. I am joyful for my wonderful marriage and 3 beautiful daughters. I am joyful to have found some other mothers, like you, who inspire me to rejoice and stay connected to God even though our mothering task is wearisome. And I am a homeschooling mama too (though not always joyfully). 🙂 I liked that that was on your list. Thanks again!
I would like to confess that I have listed “coffee” at least 400 times on my list. But truthfully, each time I counted it, I meant it as a gift for that day. I think it is fine that you repeat things. Thank you is thank you!
So glad you were blessed by “Hope”. We have re-written it and expanded it for re-release on October 23! Look for it on Amazon.
