“We do nothing. God does everything. All glory must return to Him. God has not called me to be successful. He called me to be faithful.” – Mother Teresa
My heart longs to be faithful to the words God puts in my heart. I want to come here weekly and write things that encourage you and point to Him. But here is the thing, lately writing has not been easy. But who said the God call on your life is ever easy?
The hardest part about writing is writing. – Nora Ephron
This is what I remember from the Oscars last night. A quote by the now passed on Nora Ephron. She understood this writing thing. How every word seems to get stuck and at times it feels all like “blah, blah, blah.” They all sound the same. I don’t want to be talking and filling this mysterious internet space with more chatter. Who needs more noise?
Writing as a mother is an adventure. I have this constant battle with my words and it seems like they want to come out at the most inconvenient times. I find ideas flowing when I can’t possibly get to a place to write them down and I forget them two hours later when I do have a moment to write. This could also be my forties playing a cruel trick on me. Who is to say?
“Blah, blah, blah,” now I am chattering.
So I pray…
God use me in spite of me. Let me hear Your Words over all. Make this writer girl your girl first. Overflow my heart with what you want me to say. May I be found faithful.
xo,
Stacey
Q: I’d love to hear from you soul sister. Do you find your God call easy or do you find it the hardest part?
God’s calling are never easy, but why should they?! Because if they where, how would we grow?!!!!! Hardship is a blessing, that we can embrace on our knees or complained about it like toddlers, the choice is ours!
Ps I often choose the toddlers aproach myself, good thing our God is a gracious patient one.
Ahhh, so true Renee. And since I have a toddler this behavior is familiar and mine as well!
Oh my friend, I resonate with every part of this. Thanks for sharing the Mother Teresa quote–I needed that.
I do not agree with Nora because for me, writing is like breathing and when I cannot write it feels like I cannot breathe.
I love the pen to paper, the rhythm of my fingers flying over the keyboard as I create stories on my Word processor…I love writing through and through and do not think it’s hard to do…I think the editing process of fictional work can be challenging but still I love writing! 🙂
I completely relate to the battle of flowing words that escape before I get somebody a snack. 😉 I just hope that if the words are good enough they will come back someday.
I’ve been reflecting on this quote which I too heard at the Oscars all day. It’s hard sometimes, to write, to be real, transparent, string together words that will speak to the hearts of others. I trust that God uses my words to encourage and bring Him glory!
oh my faithful friend … you know my struggles with the call i believe God has given me.
your words here are my own heart words. the words and ideas flow when i’m in the middle of dinner and homework, and when i have a quiet pause to write them down … crickets!
my friend … i promise you … you are a faithful steward of God’s words. He flows beautifully and vibrantly through you. whether those words make it to paper or not … they still flow through you. if you know nothing else, know that.
love you always!
You are such a gift sweet Tracie! Thank you!
