Today is the Tuesday after Spring Break. Easter baskets with plastic eggs sit on my counter with several pieces of second choice candy bits left over. The sun is warm (finally) and I’m trying hard not to drink a fourth cup of coffee. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of crazy at my house. I’m worn thin. You might say, weary. You’d think, since I co-wrote a book on the topic, I would have this all figured out.
Just to keep the record straight, I so don’t.
Today is a day, much like yesterday, that I need to preach the message of hope to myself over and over again. I need to look long and hard at the empty tomb and remember that since Jesus isn’t there—He can be found here, with me.
I need to remember I am not alone:
Matthew 28:20 “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
I need to remember He has prayed for me:
John 17:20 “I am praying not only for these disciples, but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.”
And right now, He IS praying for me:
Hebrews 10:25 “…He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.”
These are the things I’m telling myself today. I’m a little broken, and the only thing that ever puts the pieces back together for me is the Word made flesh whispering in my heart we are going to make it.
Question: What do you need to remember today?
Oh Stacey, I need to remember exactly what you have written here today. And I need to remember it BIG TIME. Thank you for sharing these thoughts, they are just what I need today.
I find it both stunning and refreshing to consider that the Holy Spirit groans for us.
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans…
This is truly one of my favorite verses Kathy! It goes perfectly here!
