Last week,I asked God to speak specifically to my heart. He did. He always does when I ask and take the time to listen. Then, He reminded me that we have already had this conversation a million other times. I’m so glad He is fond of repeating Himself. See, I wrote about the very same thing right here a couple of years ago…”
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when
Christ Jesus returns.
Philippians 1:6
I’m a mess, really. Sometimes….
- My kids eat pizza for more meals than they don’t.
- I tweet more than I talk to my husband.
- I want to hide at Starbucks.
- My voice can be heard by every neighbor within several houses.
- I worry.
- I don’t cry and I wonder is something wrong with me?
- I can’t stop crying.
- I want a friend to call, but I also want to be alone.
I could go on and on. I have so far to go. But, if I believe the Bible, (and I do), then I can’t pick and choose which parts. He is the way, the TRUTH, and the life. So, even when I think, surely, I am the only one who will remain a mess forever, He swoops in with a promise like this:
My name is Alpha. My name is Omega. And I always finish what I started. It may not be in your timing. It may look the way you
think. But I will finish it. Check the text. It is written.
Are you a mess, too? Do you wonder if you will ever get to where He says you will? My sweet sister, He wants you to know, though you see yourself as a mess, He calls you beautiful. He will finish what He started. And I’m talking to you, and I’m talking to me.
Let’s believe it, together, okay?”

“Check the text. It is written.” Love this so much Stacey. If only we would see ourselves the way He sees us and believe what He says about us.
He’s showing me, deeply of late, and reminding me how he accepts me and loves every bit of me. Even my ugly parts and my sin. I’m a work in progress but He WILL finish what He started. We can take that to the bank!
Aawwwww Stacey!
THANK YOU. Thank you for sharing this just at a time my heart needed to hear it. I long to be a finished work, but as always, I am ‘in progress’ and sometimes it is just so discouragning. But I know He goes before me and He stands behind me and is walking WITH me as I go. And in just the right moment in time, he provides a sweet Christian sister to remind me of things I tend to forget…
blessings to you darlin’ girl!

so true. we can’t pick and choose parts when we believe that he is the way, the truth and the life. many are the times u have pondered in the same question too. especially when other people’s expectations overwhelm me, but I know and I’m m encouraged that he will finish the good work that he started in me. thank-you for the encouragement. love u.
I needed this today. I feel like I’ve been so useless…I’m so tired (moving to another state has taken more out of me than I thought it would)…I can’t seem to get my to-do list done. I just want to be left alone. Ezra is eating toast for dinner, while watching Barney, while I read blogs (my husband is out for some guy time). I don’t know. Nothing is wrong but I feel messy and tired and just blah. So thanks for the reminder than even on days (okay, weeks) like this where I can’t seem to pull it together, I’m still beautiful and loved.
