This week for #shesharestruth we studied Psalm 38 which is about David who is sick with sin and crying out to God.
David is miserable:
“I am completely numb, totally spent, hopelessly crushed.
The agitation of my heart makes me groan.” Psalm 38:8 (The Voice)
His friends have turned away and his enemies are persecuting him:
“Even my friends and loved ones turn away when they see this marked man;
those closest to me are no longer close at all.
Those who want me dead lay traps upon my path;
those who desire my downfall threaten—my end is near—
they spend their days plotting against me.” Psalm 38:11-12 (The Voice)
But, he knows where to run:
“Still I wait expectantly for You, O Eternal One—
knowing You will answer me in some way, O Lord, my True God. Psalm 38:15 (The Voice)
He knows the answer is always wrapped up in the Lord coming to us – we wait for Him because when He comes to us, He forgives & heals.
And when I think of this passage and Lent I am reminded that Jesus became all of this for us, willingly:
He who knew no sin became it.
He was deserted by His friends.
Persecuted by His enemies.
SO THAT, in Him we “might embody the very righteousness of God.”

“Come quickly to help me, O Lord my savior.” Psalm 38:22 (NLT)

Visiting from #SheSharesTruth linkup. Lovely post! The entire psalm was so difficult to read. You can truly feel David’s pain in his words. But verses 22 and 23 lifted me up with the cry of hope.
