Galatians 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

{Set aside- disregard, nullify}
{Righteousness – condition acceptable to God}

*****

Why on earth would I ever willfully set aside the Grace of God?  Me, who stands so in need of it everyday, how could I disregard it like yesterday’s bad news?

Well, I do it every time I…

  • exchange the Truth of God for a lie.
  • put on my own righteousness instead of clothing myself in His Grace bought garments.
  • depend on my silly self-sufficiency and refuse His power that works through me.
  • act as judge and jury for those I think should know better.
  • take responsibility for outcomes that are not my own.

Yeah, I do that and more.  But the good news is for this Grace nulifier is that where sin increases, grace increases all the more. {Romans 5:20}

“The first thing we must surrender is all of our pretense or deceit. What our Lord wants us to present to Him is not our goodness, honesty, or our efforts to do better, but real solid sin. Actually, that is all He can take from us. And what He gives us in exchange for our sin is real solid righteousness”

Oswald Chambers

Thanking Him today that He wants my ugly and that at this halfway point of my One Word Grace journey Grace is increasing.

How have you seen Grace increasing in your life?  Do you, like me, ever nullify the Grace so freely given?  How can we join in praying for each other on this Grace journey?
