Oh February. Your 28 days has proven to be a tail kicking amazingly hard but good month. I’m grateful and here are a few things I learned this month while holding on for dear life.
1. My husband is the best photographer. He transformed our living room into a photography studio (translation: he moved the couch in front of the front door so you had to jump over it to leave, tied up the light fixture, and added lighting and a backdrop). He was so kind to set up all his equipment and take a few pictures of me for my new book (eek!). He also took some pictures of my girls. People – look what he did for me? Oh my word, he is so talented! And also, he sent me out to get my hair done and new make-up and that in and of itself is a gift.
2. This Gelato is AMAZING and I did not share it with anyone. I don’t even have a shred of guilt over it. Mama needs her own stash and that is all I have to say on it.
3. God still is in the miracle business. On Wednesday February 5 I found out my dad had a brain tumor. On Friday February 7 I flew to Indiana to be with my family while he had emergency surgery. This picture with him and my brother was taken about 36 hours after his surgery. God stooped right down and heard our prayers. He gave us more grace than we could ask for. And we are so grateful. My dad still has a tough road ahead, but look at that smile! We’re going to keep asking God for miracles.
4. The cold does bother me anyway. When I landed in Indiana it was -8. I was born and raised in this stuff, but I am a Florida girl now and I don’t even know how to think about the number -8 degrees. For my Northern friends, you are truly braver and stronger. I applaud you.
5. I like tea. In fact, I’m a bit obsessed with it lately. I think I’m a cheap tea drinker and I’m OK with that. I like this one by Good Earth and a Chamomile blend with spearmint at night.
6. Bonus: I also learned you really can write half a book in the ‘cracks and crannies’ of your life. You can do it. Because I did that in February, too.
Did you learn something fun or not so fun in February? I’d love to hear!
xo,
Stacey
And now I am even more excited to meet you again…
We are way alike:
The cold bothers me as well and you can ask my kids, I actually sing that line “The cold never bothers me…yes it does.”
I adore my daddy and I am thrilled to see that smile for you!
I LOVE tea! (I didn’t even know there was expensive kind, so I must drink the cheap stuff)
What I learned: There is a difference between time spent and time wasted. I want my time to be spent!
Blessings on you March! XO
Soooon! We can wrap up in warm sweaters and drink tea! @Delcareconf right?!!
I’m in awe of your husband’s photography gift. I was sure the first time I saw that beautiful shot of you that you had it professionally done and obviously you did. Thankful for answered prayers for your Dad, what a gift. And Yes, I’ve written half a book this month too. When God says, “Go” its amazing how the words pour out, huh? Loved your list. Have a great weekend Stacey.
Shelly it would be his dream to photograph all day long! Right now it is more of a hobby/passion and I am so blessed he practices on me!
Happy Weekend!
Stacey!
What a February you have had, my friend. Dad, book, photos – so much.
On a light note – that Gelato is my go-to when John leaves town. Why not buy it when he’s here? B/c I might have to share. I keep it in the back of the freezer and save it til the kids go to bed. A sugar hoarder is what I am.
So glad you linked up!
Now that is a good plan my friend. Conceal and hoard your Gelato. I so understand!
Now I know why you always have the best pictures! Lucky you with your photog husband.
I too am a firm believer in mama having her own cupboard {or freezer section} of her own goodies.
SO hoping that God restores and heals your dad! That is a precious photo. Hope you’re doing well, friend!
Ha! Freezer section, that is perfect! I was at Epcot today and I thought of our being at MK and NOT seeing each other! We are too funny!
Sweet list. Praying for your dad’s complete healing this morning. Hugs
Thank you so much! That means the world to me!
That picture is gorgeous and your dad looks good for having just come out of surgery like that. I hope his healing continues.
I don’t like cold, either. I grew up in Florida (near the space center) and now live in Houston. We’ve had a lot of cold this February and I have no idea how people tolerate it up north!
My February was pretty exciting…I’ve lost weight after YEARS of trying! I quit eating wheat back in October and lost a few pounds, but that was it. Then in late January I got to where I couldn’t tolerate sugared drinks – real OR artificial sugar. Diet Coke has always been my vice (more like addiction) but I quit drinking it. Once I did, the weight started coming off. This week, I went shopping for new jeans because the old ones were baggy and ended up with some TWO sizes smaller! Same brand and style as the old, but smaller!
Go Liza! That is amazing! I’m trying to decrease my Diet Coke drinking, but it is soooo hard! What did you put in place of it? I need a good and yummy alternative!
The fact that you wrote half a book in the crooks and crannies of life totally thrills me! It also challenges me in a the good sort of way. Thank you!
So…I need to figure out how to write a book in the crooks and crannies. Cuz I can’t figure that part out. *sigh*
Stacey, I am clicking on links, from The art of simple, and it led me here to you.
I am drawn to anyone and everyone I read about or meet when I see the words brain tumor.
My husband Ted was dx with a GBM in Oct 2005. If you haven’t heard of GBM, then that is really good.
So I will put your dad (and family) on my BT prayer list. I call them the “beast within”
Hugs and prayers
Karen
Thank you Karen, I’m grateful for your prayers.
Loved reading through your list, and just love your heart so much! Praising with you about your dad, loving the sweetness of your husband and him photographing you all, and I, too, LOVE tea! SO excited and inspired about your writing, and praying so much for your words to bless the hearts of weary mamas around the world!! Sending so much love to you…xo
