Hey friends! Happy Wednesday, which means you made it to the middle of the week! You go girl! This week I’m sharing a couple of things I wore and I have a question for you at the end!
This week was about a shirt and a pair of pants…
Left: This shirt is from Stitch Fix and I really do like it. But, it is the kind of shirt that you can’t wear over and over because it is pretty memorable. Plus, I saw a friend with a similar shirt on Facebook and when she got to work 2 other women were wearing it, too. Does that ever happen to you?
Shirt: Stitch Fix, Jeans: Lucky Brand, Sandals: Target
Right: These may look like basic khaki pants to you, but I have not been able to wear them for a very long time. It might be sad to hear I ‘ve had them for about 5 or 6 years, but they are dress pants and I don’t wear them much. But, they fit this week, with room to spare! Yipee!
Pants: Loft, Top: Loft, Sweater: Nordtrom’s Rack, Shoes: Target

OK I need your help big time. Next week I’m traveling to New York to speak at the Raising Generations Today conference with Brooke for “Hope for the Weary Mom.” I’m trying to decide what to pack. Let’s keep 2 things in mind:
1. It will be cold (like 45-50 degrees). {don’t laugh at me}
2. I’l be hanging out with amazing moms – so the dress is mommy/business/causal
What would you wear? Here are a few style options:
1. Classic with a cardigan
2. Jacket with a pop of color
3. Casual and comfy with denim and boots
When you go to to a conference, what do you expect your speakers to wear? Or do you care? Do you appreciate them being dressed up a little or do you love it when they are hipsters and dressed down with an edge?
Do tell girl! Do tell!
xo,
Stacey
(linking up with Lindsey today!)
P.S. The last time I spoke, my husband picked my outfit. True story!
I would go with #2. I like the dressier option for speaking!
Thanks Shannon! I appreciate your input!
#2 is PERFECT! Very speaker-professional, but also accessible! The pop of color is just gorgeous on you! And now you have me panicking about what I am going to wear for my speaking engagement the same weekend! ACK!
I love #2 for speaking and the other two for just hanging out at the conference.
And I’m SO bummed that you will be a few hours away from me but I won’t be at the conference! Whaa! It would be so great to hear you speak!
Definitely the middle. My rule of thumb is to dress just a bit “better” than those to whom you’re speaking. (I hope that makes sense and doesn’t sound snobby.) You can’t go wrong with a jacket.
1 and 2 (1 for daily, 2 for speaking)… and bring that awesome pea coat you posted about a few weeks ago, just in case!
#2. I’m going to this conference and I can’t wait!!!
Not to be a downer, but it may even be a bit colder than 45-50. Let’s hope not. 😉

I agree with the others. Definitely #2. I want speakers to be comfortable, but still look put together. At a conference I attended last year one of the speakers looked like she hadn’t done her hair and her clothing was less than professional or even casual. I was quite turned off and it made it hard for me to hear her message. You, on the other hand, will not have that problem. You always look great! I was planning on attending the conference, but my dad passed away last week and I changed my plans. Sorry to miss it and seeing you!
Mary I am so sorry for the loss of your daddy. I’m praying for you friend.
#2 and I live in NY…it is freezing, so dress warm!
Oh stars Ashlea! I’m going to freeze! Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, #2, I guess-although I LOVE #3 with your boots! Happy Travels!
I really want to come over and borrow some of your clothes! I’d go with #2 – I agree that you can’t go wrong with a jacket! (And that orange is fabulous!)
Thanks Andrea! I love that color too!
I’m a super casual mom so I’d vote for #1 – you feel more realistic and mom-ish. 🙂
