Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
You Are Deeply Loved
We sat in a circle talking about true love and what it means when I asked my four girls a simple question: “Why do daddy and I love you?” The four of them began to popcorn answers back and forth and trying to one up the other but what all amounted to...
The Only Way We are Going to Make it As Moms
Do you know what God says about you? Do you believe it? I know from time to time I need a reminder. OK, lately I need a ton of reminders. I thought starting next week we would walk through five simple truths that can greatly impact how we live when we are making our...
What I Wore
A couple of years ago I started posting my What I Wore Wednesday posts because I loved reading them on other people's blogs. I also needed a little extra motivation to get up, get dressed, and try a little harder to pull my "look" together. It really is mostly just a...
What I Wore
I was struck this week that class and grace really still do matter. I will admit, I'm not a fan or follower of Lady Gaga. Friends, she looked stunning at the Oscars and sang beautifully. What a lovely moment. But, Julie Andrews? She took the stage and people were...
What I Wore
Hello Wednesday. Hello friends. Hello getting out of your pj's by noon hopefully. Hello wearing busted zipper jeans because your dress is long enough to cover it. Hello keeping it real because we all need to know everyone is as normal like us. And of course, hello...
The One Book I Want You to Read More than Mine
I recorded a podcast the day Hope for the Weary Mom came out with Brooke and our good friend Kat. At the end of the podcast, Kat asked a question: What is one thing a mom could do right now to fight weariness and find hope? My answer (in a nutshell was this): "Spend...
What I Wore
Y'all this past week as been CRAzy. I mean I can't even tell you my last name right now. OK, well I know that at least but I'm not sure of much else. It has been such a blessing to see Hope make her way out into the world. I'm grateful. So in light of all that has...
Hope is. Hope is not.
"When I think of hope today, it isn’t something with feathers or the words to a Disney song my girls sing in the back seat of my minivan. Hope is a person. This one small truth has gained me whole lot of freedom." I'm sharing Hope over at my friend Emily's blog today....
Today is the Day! Let's Celebrate!
Today I'm going to wake up early. I'm going to pour a giant sized cup of coffee in my new turquoise mug I found at Walmart. Yes, Walmart. I'm going to sit in the dark and worship the one who is called "The Hope of All the World." I'm going to read 1 John 1:1-4...
The "Hope" Story All in One Place
This story has been written over the past three years. The truth is, we have prayed, asked God to show us the path, and followed the spark of hope. It has been an incredible journey. I thought it might be fun to put a few highlights together in one place because it is...
