Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

What I Wore – Stitch Fix

You know I love a Stitch Fix Day. I'll be honest, I had a Fix sent a couple of months ago but it was not my favorite and I sent it all back. It  happened to be at at time I just could not get up a post about it so that one came and went. But last week, I received a...

Lately

I sat in Panera Saturday morning having just polished off my cinnamon crunch bagel with hazel nut cream cheese ready to write. There is so much to write this summer and I finally found a spot where I could turn on my writing playlist and pour out my heart on the page....

What I Wore #idhtbptbb

"Just like it would be tragic if we thought we had to live our lives with our hair in a perfectly messy bun while wearing a wedding gown and a hurty pair of heels. It is hard to be creative in an office that can never look messy. That's not its purpose. And its'...

What I Wore

Remember last time when I told you all about why I post What I Wore each week? Well this week I totally forgot to take pictures. Like it just didn't happen. Ya'll it must be summer. I promise I got up and got dressed. Now grant it, many of those days I was dressing...

What I Wore

Happy What I Wore Day! Today is Wednesday and I was thinking that maybe you are new around here and have no idea why in the world I post What I Wore each week. You may be thinking, "I like this, but what sparked the idea?" Well, actually it was not really my idea. The...

What I Learned This Spring

I have this friend named Emily who blogs over here. She started a link up called "Things I Learned" and it is by far one of my favorite posts to write. I haven't been able to share my list since February, so my list is for Spring. I hope you will read some of the...

Simple Summer

Last Friday evening we took our girls to Disney World to get Dole Whip and watch the fireworks. You need to know we have never actually done this with them. Although we have season passes for the first time since we moved to Central Florida (11 years ago) we usually...

What I Wore

If only you could have seen me yesterday. I was running between two dressing rooms at Old Navy helping two of my girls try on summer clothes. We must have tried on 700 pairs of shorts (finally finding some long enough) and 200 tank tops —the ultimate layering...

What I Wore

Can I say quickly thank you for your crazy sweet encouragement yesterday? I appreciate you so much. I mean really is there a better group of virtual huggers than you? I think not. Last week was Ballet Recital Week 2014 and it happened to coincide with my husband...
