Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Did They Know They Were Living a Great Story?
They loved. They were loved. They had babies. They sojourned. They walked by faith. They listened to God. They ran, too. Sometimes, they laughed. On good days, they built boats that saved us all, offered God their most precious possessions, and blessed their...
Date Night
Twenty one years of date nights and we end up here dodging the rain. I order Mandarin Kung Pao Chicken and he does too. We catch up on life because it is hard to do with four kids at the table on every other night. Later, we drive way to far to find just the right...

Bible in 90 Days :: There Might Be Giants
66 books. 90 days. 1 Amazing Summer. I am super excited about diving into God's Word. I know He has invited me. I know He has challenged me to ask others to do the same. I am overwhelmed that over 300 have said yes. But I have to be honest: There might be giants...
I Hope You Dance
I hope you dance. Just for the pure joy of it. I hope you dance because it makes God smile. I hope you dance because you can. I hope you dance whether there is a trophy or not. I hope you dance because this is always how I will remember you. Me in the wings, you...
What I Wore :: Summer Bags and Shoes
Last week, my sweet friend Angie (who has a great new blog) tweeted that she was trying to resist the urge to buy a new bag for summer. I answered that I was, too. My friend Brooke chimed in, and then I had the crazy idea that they needed to Twitter meet because they...
What She Said…
A few weeks ago, I had the chance to hear from Priscilla Shirer at the Going Beyond Simulcast, which was recorded live at my church. Here are a few things from this amazing event, that she said... I am not going to be the woman I want to become if I don't make some...
The Joy Dare :: Joy is Everywhere
She is tiny and six and has been singing songs all week about how much she loves Jesus and her baptism day. With gorgeous blue skies and many of her pastors in the water waiting, she stepped into the water hanging on to her daddy for dear life. The waves grew and...
FYI
School is out for summer. If you need me, and can't find me I'll be over at the swimming pool with my girls. They will probably ask me to play mermaids. I'll decline. But I will let them stay up later, eat way too much ice cream, and skip bath nights. After all, what...
