Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

31 Days {Day 24} :: From Start to Finish

31 Days {Day 22} :: Yes, I'm Here Margaret

31 Days {Day 21} :: Your Legacy is Worth it.

31 Days {Day 20} :: Just Take The Next Step

We like to know what is ahead. We feel better when the road is marked clearly.  But the truth is, many times, all we know is the next step.  We know to pray.  We know to ask a friend.  We know to get out of bed and make the coffee. And that is all. This is the place...

31 Days {Day 19} :: Great and Mighty Things

He must have know, our questions. He must have counted on our forgetfulness. How could we miss it?  I mean really? The One who made this.... with a word.  And this... just this morning, must have know. He knew we would need it to be obvious. So He said this: I want to...

31 Days {Day 18} :: Just Chilln'

You know the person. That friend  you can just chill with. You don't have to wash your hair or put on make-up for her,  but she's the first one to notice when you do. Being together feeds your soul. Well, God thinks of you that way, too. He chooses you every time. He...
