Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Behind the Scenes: Let’s Talk About My New Bible Study

I've been a Bible Study Girl since my freshman year at Indiana University. I was walking back from class praying that God would help me find a group of Jesus loving students,  when I saw a sign in an elevator in my dorm about a women's Bible study. I immediately went...

Dear Fall…

For Sara….

Thank you. I have been blessed. No moment from God is a rock of burden, it's just a rock waiting to be broken apart into stepping stones. Sara aka Gitzen girl

Grace For The Good Girl {Part 1}

I love John ... I hate John - Emma Woodhouse by Jane Austen I love this book. I hate this book. Let me clarify. I love this book because it will not let me alone for 10 minutes with my own version of the Good Girl.  I love that Emily's words are shining the light of...

How Grace Found Me :: {Part 2}

How Grace Found Me :: {Part 1} You don't always get to pick where Grace will lead you. I found myself transplanted in a foreign land, surrounded by people I did not know, far away from my Good Girl life plan with only this promise to cling to: Do not call to mind the...

How Grace Found Me :: {Part 1}

When Emily called all the Good Girls together to preview her new book, I was thrilled.  I imagined myself, book in hand, making happy little highlights and sending her my best one line quotes.  Good girls do just what they are asked to do. My plan was to blitz through...

Grace for the Good Girl

Are you a Good Girl? Well, you might be if you: Use the word should, like a lot. Identify with the dinosaur in Toys Story and guilt drives you. You are always, fine. You have a hard time asking for help. No one really knows the conversation going on in your head. Fear...
