Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Summer :: I like….

Are You Stuck in Safe?
I have 4 kids. Ages 21 months to almost 12 years. Sometimes it is easier to just stay home. Stick to the plan. Hunker down in routine. In fact, I like it there. Home. Safe. Easy. (Well, not really easy, but predictable.) But, this week I realized that there is one...

Are You Afraid?
Then, after an awful pause, the deep voice said, "Susan." Susan made no answer but the others thought she was crying. "You have listened to fears, child," said Aslan. "Come, let me breathe on you. Forget them. Are you brave again?" "A little, Aslan," Said Susan. from...

I Will Pray as Long as I Have Breath
I’ve been a mom for almost 12 years. And spent the majority of that time on my knees. I’ve prayed great prayers, written by other moms. I’ve prayed out loud in desperation with my girls listening. I’ve wept on the floor of their bedrooms and charged the gates of...
Chair Time :: Sunrise
The first light is warm, with a golden glow. I sit in my chair waiting with coffee cup in hand for my awakening. There is this one bird, at least I like to think it is the same bird every morning, who welcomes the sun. A sweet song that fills the air. Welcome,...
