Tomorrow we go back to school. Back to reality. Our schedule shifts into overdrive and begins to fill up with activities. I really needed this summer break, more than ever. But I am ready for a new beginning, too. What will this year hold for us? Who will we meet? How will God teach them about who He is? What will they remember about this year that will forever be imprinted on their hearts?
We will begin the day with d0nuts – the really good kind with icing and sprinkles. We will make posters and snap some pictures. We’ll peak in our new books and we will dream. And I will wonder where the past 5 years have gone.
P.S. I am linking up to Chatting At The Sky,The MODsquad, and Simple Pleasures.
the icing and the sprinkles, yes. i remember that “cinnamon roll” school days meant something special was happening. great job in celebrating your wee ones…
Thanks friend! It was a whirlwind day and I collapsed into bed slap worn out! But oh so worth it!
We started yesterday and suprisingly it’s been oddly calming … spelling lists on the refrigerator, glitter on the table and cuddling on the couch reading about Abraham Lincoln. Good stuff!
Oddly calm….I hear you! I kept them pretty busy moving from one thing to another. We ease in to the “book” part of school. That really starts next week. Thanks for stopping by Amanda!
I want donuts I want donuts!
have a great 1st day – love ya girl!!
Unlimited possibilities! Love it!
Isn’t it amazing how fast the years have gone by. I can’t believe I am sending my oldest to fourth grade today. Seems like just yesterday that we dropped her off at Kindergarten. Good Luck with the new school year!
Snif! Snif! 4th grade seems so big doesn’t it? It is a great year! It was a huge year for us! I am praying that God helps you really see who He is making her to be and the gifts He has given her!
Lovely post. I’d love to have you link up with my Simple Pleasures series some Thursday. The linky is activated on Wednesdays at 9PM CST.
hope today’s wonderful and the donuts were yummy!! 😉
Nice post. Sounds like a fun back-to-school breakfast. Love the wooden bin in the photo.
They were sooo good! Had 2 of them myself {teachers need sugar too!}. The bin came from JoAnn’s last year. I loved and thought it would serve well for our crayons, markers, and pencils. It is a good reminder for me, too!
My favorite part is the “Abby” scrawled on the box. I have one of those and that looks all-too-familiar! It definitely brought a smile to my face this morning. I hope the first day went well for everyone. Back to school is equal parts excitement, exhilaration, stress, and exhaustion for my family. But the first two always outweigh the seconds two!
You know Jennie I almost painted over that…but thought twice when I saw her sweet name above the “cherish.live.dream” part. She is my second daughter and always trying to ‘scrawl’ out her place in this world. Praying God gives me the grace {her middle name} to see her and celebrate her everyday!
So glad you stopped by today!
Fresh school supplies, brand new year, unlimited possibilties. What a perfect Simple Pleasures post. So glad you linked up today.
I love the idea and the reminder to look for them throughout my day Dayle! What a sweet link up!
Hope school has started well! Love that picture, btw!
The years do fly. I know that the past 13 just did for my daughter.
I love the beginning of a new school year. It’s full of freshness and expectation.
Those are two of my favorite things.
Joining you from Dayle’s simple pleasures.
Well said Debbie! It is full of freshness and expectation! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
