The only question I get in regards to school and celebrating birthdays around our house is this:
Do we have to do school on my birthday?
It makes me laugh every time they ask! I guess, this is one of the many gifts of home schooling. You can and should set the books aside from time to time! A couple of weeks ago, my oldest turned 11. Here is how we celebrated her big day! {there are some benefits to living in the tourist capital of the world!}
I am linking up today to the Home School Village to share how we celebrate birthdays during the school year. What about you? How do you make birthdays special for your kids when it falls on a school day? Do you take treats for his or her class? Do you meet them for lunch? Or, if you homeschool, do you plan a field trip? Leave a comment and let me know!
Soooooo fun! We don’t homeschool, so skipping a day is not so easy!!! BTW….I left a blog award for you on my blog! NOOOOOOO pressure to follow the rules, just wanted you to know I love your heart that comes across in your writing!
Danielle you are so sweet. Thank you for your encouragement today!
precious, precious, precious!!! and happy birthday to emma!
you know we’re new to homeschooling this year, but i’ve already seen so many benefits … one i’m currently excited about? miss tay will be chaperoning wynter’s field trip to the zoo tomorrow! {wynt isn’t home schooled}.
thursday blessings to you friend!
Oh that is going to be such fun! I’ll bet Wynter is going to be so proud to show off her big sis to her friends! Love it Tracie!
When my daughter was going to Mother’s Day Out, her birthday fell on one of the day’s that she goes so I brought them cupcakes and other treats. Now that I’ve been homeschooling her I’m not quite sure what we will do, although this field trip is a great idea! We just very recently moved here to West Virginia because my husband is military (Coast Guard), so we don’t know a lot of people yet. One of the ideas I had was perhaps get together with the few people we know who have children and celebrate it at home.
Field trips are always fun – and I should do more of them!!! And since you are new to the area, you have a lot of places to explore! Have a great time!
That looks like a pretty awesome birthday. That would be such a treat for our kids. I went to Sea World as a kid and loved it!
That looks like a wonderful birthday at Sea World! I would love that (and so would the girls)!
Thanks for sharing your birthday celebration ideas!

Oh, wow! What a FUN bday!! Love the pictures! 🙂
We had a great day. I was emotional thinking that moment is a once in a lifetime moment!
We all take off for birthdays! Even my husband takes off work and we do whatever the birthday person wants to do! 🙂
What a great way to celebrate her birthday! Happy Belated to her! My little one isn’t in school yet so I’m not quite sure what we’ll do when the time comes but hopefully something that will become a great childhood memory for them! 🙂
