Some would say, you can take the girl out of Indiana, but you can’t take Indiana out of the girl. Some would be right about that. I was reminded this week of corn knee high by the 4th of July, the blessing of cousins, and the thrill of a lightning bug. We sat for real on the porch, drank coffee and talked about the heat wave because it was important. Do you know why? Well, it just is.
I lived slow for most of my life in a small southern Indiana town that used to be named Lick Skillet. (I can’t even make that stuff up, ya’ll.) I went back this week with my littles and did it again. Only this time the giggles were theirs and the joy was all mine.
And that friend, is what summer is all about. Have you slowed down enough to catch your breath? Do you know how important it is? Well, it just is.
I have to say, I’m glad you went with your old street address rather than the former name of your hometown when you were naming your blog! Although, I might have to borrow Lick Skillet over at my place. So grateful for your time to slow down, giggle, reminisce and find joy! Ah summer….
You should totally used that for Casa Schell. That seems so appropriate.
I’m loving your trip to the mountains. Next year, I’m coming to hang out with you!
I hear ya sister. Can’t the Indiana out of this girl either. Love from one Hoosier to another.
Oh my stars, I just love you and your Hoosier self. 🙂
Sometimes it’s hard to beat small town. Country life for growing up! Okay, most of the time.
