I went to the beach last weekend for a lovely retreat with even lovelier women. I watched the sun show off two mornings in a row and I wondered if the moon was ever jealous. Glory. The sun comes up and my soul fills up.

I’ve been thinking about being mom to four girls and feeling the heart tug to  go and do big things in the big wide world. At times I feel like my own world is small. This week I sat with my 7 year old while she had some dental work done. She cried and I prayed. But, all I could think of was an old hymn called “There’s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit in this Place.” So I sang it because I could not think of one verse to pray.

Sweet Holy Spirit.

Sweet Heavenly Dove.

Stay right here with us, filling us with your love.

And for these blessings, we lift our hearts in praise.

I’ve been singing it all week. I’m realizing sitting with your daughter while she cries at the dentist and singing hymns is my big thing. She, along with her sisters and daddy, is my big wide world right now. Oh, God is good to give me a few women here and there as well to impact with His Word for eternity. He is so gracious to allow me to write and be here with you in this place. I will do what I can, when I can. But, my small is big enough right now.

I’m reading A Million Little Ways (amazon affiliate link) by Emily Freeman thinking about the art I make and how I come alive when I glorify the Lord. Worship and music are a big part of this. I’m also realizing that Living Thankful is the first step for me. I’m looking forward to going back to gratitude and being purposeful. More to come on this.
