I’ve been a Bible Study Girl since my freshman year at Indiana University. I was walking back from class praying that God would help me find a group of Jesus loving students, when I saw a sign in an elevator in my dorm about a women’s Bible study. I immediately went and asked the girl who hung it up if I could join hers. She said yes and I haven’t been the same since.
Over the last three decades, it has been the rhythm of Bible study with a small group of women that has consistently impacted my spiritual life the most. Understanding the Bible better has been a tool God has used to make me like Him. So much so that about ten years ago I wanted to write a Bible study. This was sometime after I wrote Hope for the Weary Mom. I had a dream, a plan, and my favorite book of the Bible ready to go—but God redirected my steps. And so, I took that idea and turned it into a two books series called Girlfriends Guide to the Bible. The first book was on Hebrews (because that is my favorite book of the Bible) and the second book was on Ephesians. These two books sat somewhere between a Bible study and a commentary—a conversation between friends about two beloved books of the Bible. I was grateful for those books and liked the way they turned out. But honestly, in my heart, they were always meant to be a true Bible Study.
A couple of months ago, God opened a door for that dream to become a reality. I had no idea while I was busy raising my family, writing, working full-time, and doing other things, that God was working behind the scenes to orchestrate everything in His perfect plan.
I hoped for it.
I prayed about it.
I dreamed about it.
I anticipated it.
But, it didn’t happen the way I thought it would. Honestly, I wondered if it would happen after all these years of waiting. A part of me had even given up hope.
Friends!!! Only God could do this! I am so excited to tell you that I am writing a Bible study for women on the book of Matthew. The working title is Jesus: The Unexpected King: A Study on the book of Matthew. It will release in the Fall of 2028 with Moody Publishers. I’m so honored to be working with their team.
I want to give a special thank you and shout out to my friend Asheritah who introduced me to the team at Moody Publishers. This was totally “unexpected”! And I am overjoyed and humbled by this opportunity. I know 2028 feels like a long time from today, but this will be a rich time of study and preparation.
