What you believe about God is the most important thing about you. – Tozer
As my prayer list grows to include things that are so much bigger than me, I am reminded that it is tough to be a grown up. I watch my kids move about their carefree lives and I am longing for a day of splashing in the pool and fort building myself. So last Saturday I sat with my Bible and took a good look at one verse that captured my heart. I found it in Deuteronomy 32:4.
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. (New International Version)
I fell in love with this verse and researched it. Here are 11 things I found:
He is the rock – a foundation to be built on.
He is Immovable
He is a shelter for us
His works are perfect – nothing God does can be mended.
His works are complete – if He begins He will finish.
All His ways are just -right and propper
He is faithful and worthy of our trust
He is the One true God, Jehovah “El”
He does no wrong
He has never cheated anyone who has trusted Him
His justice was never so hard on those who cast themselves on His Mercy.
Upright – He will not wrong any by punishing more than they deserve or fail to recompense all those that serve Him and suffer for Him
And that is just one verse and 15 minutes of digging. Oh the treasures we can find when we take the time to look! What have you found recently in God’s Word that has captured your heart?
**I have also been reading A.W. Tozer’s Knowledge of the Holy. It is a fantastic book that lifts my heart and fixes my eyes on Jesus.
**When I study a passage, I love to use Blue Letter Bible. It is an online resource that you can use to look up the Greek Definitions for words, cross references for verses, as well as read commentaries. I also happen to love to read Matthew Henry’s commentary which can be found here as well.
***My above research is heavily influenced by these two great resources!
Love it! Amazing how God reveals Himself! It is cool to know that He wants us to know!!
I am also truly amazed that He is Incomprehensible – limitless! So we are invited to know Him, but can never get to the end of who He is! So glad you stopped by today Danielle!
Oh, the promises we have in that verse!!! I love blueletterbible.org, too! Today, I posted about Him being a Shield, so this was iceing on the cake for this mama’s heart today!
Oh Erin thank you for that precious post about praying your little ones up! Truly a treasure today for me!
Thank you so much for sharing this post and these resources. I have never used blueletterbible.org. I can’t wait to dig deeper with it.
I need to write down your list above on an index card and remind myself how amazing He is, all the time!
I love doing that Amy – and keeping it with me so I can remind myself often!
I found you blog through A Steady Rain, and thank you so much for that beautiful verse! My hubby just left for his 4th deployment and I sure needed to hear that encouragement. Every click of the mouse even has purpose! Thank you and God bless:-)
I am so glad to meet you! Isn’t the Lord faithful to bring us His Word at just the right time? I have been claiming this verse over and over again this week. You and your husband’s service are such an inspiration to me! Thank you seems so small, but with all my heart I mean it! I will be praying for both of you during this call to duty and honor! May God give you a greater grace that carries your through each day!
