You might have heard me gushing recently about one of my new favorite bloggers, named Kat. I mentioned her here, here, and, here. I have been following since I found her this summer. Imagine my excitement when she agreed to be featured on the Friday Five! I love to introduce you to Inspiring Women, and her blog even has the word INSPIRE in it! So, she is a perfect candidate. Kat blogs at Inspired To Action, a site dedicated to helping moms develop the habits and skills they need to effectively manage their homes and raise children who are prepared to change the world. She and her husband Jimmy live the great state of Texas and have 3 children ages 7, 5 and 2. Kat loves music, running, technology, Jesus and Tex-Mex food. Not necessarily in that order.
1. Where are you from?
While I was born in Illinois, my heart is in Texas. I’ve lived here since I was seven and even though I didn’t get the horse I thought all Texas residents were entitled to, I’ve grown to love living here. And eating Tex Mex food. Mmmm…
2. What are you looking forward to?
A blog conference called Relevant! None of my real life friends are bloggers, so I’m really excited to be able to talk about blogging….out loud. The speakers are some of my FAVORITE writers – Ann Voskamp, Kristen Welch, Sally Clarkson, Angie Smith. I also think it will be fun to meet some of the friends I’ve made online. It’s like summer camp for 30 somethings.
3. What is your favorite Bible Verse/passage and why?
I adore Psalm 18. I love reading it to my kids and being very animated. The theme of the passage is that the writer is being overcome, he cries out. Then God, in heaven, here’s his cry. He thunders down from his throne, rides on clouds and routs enemies with bolts of lightning. And then it says, “He stooped down to make me great…..He rescued me because He delighted in me.” I love the imagery, the power and tenderness of that passage.
4. What book, other than the Bible has impacted you the most?
Most recently it’s been Love and Logic. It really has helped me to be a more patient and prepared mom.
5. Who inspires you?
Ann Voskamp. I’m such a fan girl. Her writing is brilliant and I love how unintentionally rebellious she is. She doesn’t allow comments on her blog, She doesn’t do much on Facebook or Twitter. She doesn’t do most of the things “successful” bloggers are supposed to do. But she hears the heart of God and that draws people infinitely more than SEO tactics or email marketing campaigns. I LOVE when God uses people like that.
Wouldn’t you just love to grab some tacos with Kat, listen to some tunes and talk about what Jesus is doing in your life? I have been blessed by her energetic and motivational spirit at Inspired To Action and by following her on Twitter. One of my other favorite Twitterites is Michelle and she is joining forces with Kat to help to you Maximize Your Mornings . You can read more about that here, and follow the #hellomornings hashtag on Twitter. Be sure to thank Kat for being here today, putting up with my constant comments, emails, and @mentions on Twitter! Most of all, check out her blog and be Inspired!
I {heart} Ann Voskamp as well. But Kat, you are really inspiring to me as well. Love your blog – it challenges us to put our words to action and it’s a kick I really need! 🙂
