Galatians 3 & 4 are heavy in doctrine. There is much to be said about how Paul explains the relationship between law and grace. But here for me is the bottom line…
19 My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you—
Galatians 4:19
Paul is pouring out his heart to these who have become like his own children. His main mission is that they be transformed from the inside out. He desires they be in complete harmony with the mind and life of Christ. The mystery of the Gospel is great, but the truth of it is, Christ formed in us
So….
- When I’m tempted to go back and depend on doing instead of being…remember Christ is formed in me.
- When it is easier to just go through the motions and not experience my faith…remember Christ is formed in me.
- When I’m tempted to forget the promises…instead remember that Christ is formed in me.
- When I get puffed up with ugly pride and think I’m all that…remember it is Christ formed in me.
The law won’t do it. I can’t force it. Doing the right thing 24/7 won’t guarantee it.
My only hope is Christ -all He is, all His Grace formed in me.
*****
Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear, and Grace my sins relieved,
How precious did that Grace appear, the hour I first believed.
Does this make your heart sing friend? Grace formed in you? God in you? This is our hope! What are your thoughts on this Grace Note today? I’d love to hear!
