The first and almost the only book deserving of universal attention is the Bible. I speak as a man of the world…and I say to you, ‘Search the Scriptures.’
John Adams, Second President of the United States of America
You know I love God’s Word. I love sharing it with my girls in every way I can. Next semester, we are focusing on American History and studying our founding fathers. I could not be more excited to tell you about a resource, produced by Thomas Nelson, that brings these two things together. It is the Young American Patriot’s Bible ,by Dr. Richard G. Lee.
{from the inside cover} This Bible “pairs the New King James Version with articles focusing on many of the heroes and events that helped to make this nation what it is today. Beautiful full-color insert pages spotlight a collection of presidents, great thinkers, influential people, monuments, and events that present the rich heritage and future of our great nation.”
Thomas Nelson was kind enough to send me a copy to review and my oldest daughter took it immediately to her room to read the 64 articles. I love that! We are planning to use this as our school room Bible and keep in nearby as we study next semester. I believe, it will help my girls understand the importance of God’s Word and how it helped shape our country.

Happy Veteran’s Day!
And Happy 90th Birthday to my Grandpa, a veteran, who turns 90 today on 11/11/11.
How neat is that?
Yes, please! I want! Have you heard of adventures in odyssey? A great resource also for Christian American history. We listen to it in the car.
I would love to win this for our kids! Our middle son loves facts and how great it would be to connect Bible principles with history and heroes. My personal favorite Bible character is Esther…I love her strength.
Oh my goodness I must have this Bible!! I can already see my dad sitting and reading it with my son and my nephew. If I won it, I would definately give it to my dad, He loves America!
I would love to teach my daughter about Harriet Tubman because she went against the flow (rules) to save her people, selflessly risking her life. Would love to teach my son about Paul Revere as jis courage, risk taking and love for his country was the driving force behind his patriotism.
John Adams, Jefferson, Washington too many to choose – “old hickory” – I love sharing such impt true “stories” w my 3 boys! TY!
What a great give-a-way today! I think 1 American hero I would like to learn a little bit more about is Abraham Lincoln.
We LOVE history in our home and have read numerous biographies of Washington, Franklin, Lincoln and Roosevelt, but would love to learn more about some of the lesser-known Founding Fathers. Thanks for the giveaway!
I know just the nephew who could use this! I have degrees in history and I’ve studied various figures in depth, but one that I just don’t think I know enough detail about is John Adams, so I would like to know more about him.
I would love to teach my children about George Washington and his belief in God.
