Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 8}
“I wonder, Lord, how do I honor You, while I am still desiring the very thing You saw fit to cut away?” And then as soon as I take the next breath, I have my answer. He whispers…”Give thanks.” From Chapter 8 {Live Thankful} "Life has a tendency to go on and on....
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 7}
"You can’t go over it. You can’t go under it. You have to go through it.” We Are Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen There is simply no way to go over, under, or around the subject of pruning. We will at some point have to go through it. Let’s go through it...
Being Ok With Where You Are {Chapter 6}
From Chapter 6 {You May Need a Cheerleader} Encouragement. Say it again. Encouragement. You need it now more than you know. You have walked toward being OK with where you are for the past few weeks bravely. I'm so proud of you. But, you still have days when you...
Am I OK with Where I Am?
People keep asking and I'm guessing you are wondering, too. They want to know how I am. They wonder how long is the right amount of time to let me be and expect me to smile back and say, "I'm good. Fine. How are you?" Truthfully, I'm OK. I'm sad and OK. Lately, I've...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 5}
Do you feel a little broken down? Are you ready for a breath of fresh air? Me, too. From Chapter 5: {Standing on the Promises} When God Tosses You a Lifeline Take It I learned something last week while my girls were casually swimming at the pool. My three year...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 4}
Today, we start Chapter 4 and I have a feeling this will hit us all in the place we hurt most. My friend Tanya calls "Quiet Competition." I think if we are going to be OK with where we are, this is something we have to face and overcome with the grace only Jesus can...
What To Say When You Are Not OK
Q. "How should I respond to people who ask me how I'm doing? I don't want to be false and just say, "Fine" but then again I don't want to whine or complain to everyone either." - Robyn This is a question my sweet new friend Robyn from Zambia asked last week. I...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 3}
From Chapter 3 {Removing the Veil of Fine}: "You might be OK with telling God you are not OK. You may figure, He knows anyway. It isn’t easy, but it makes good sense to be on the same page with the One who knows your heart from the inside out. David knew this truth,...
Being Ok With Where You Are {Chapter 2}
I really don’t intend for this to feel like a ten step program to being ok with where you are. Most of the time I find myself going back and forth between the ‘steps’ like a game of hopscotch. Some days, they happen simultaneously in my life. In general, you don’t...
Being OK with Where You Are {chapter 1}
Remember last summer how we wrote a book together? Well, I wrote and you showed up each week to read, comment, and hold me accountable. You were awesome by the way. The book came out last September (2013). I thought it would be a good idea to re-post the original 10...
