Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
When Your Heart Needs a Reminder
Last week,I asked God to speak specifically to my heart. He did. He always does when I ask and take the time to listen. Then, He reminded me that we have already had this conversation a million other times. I'm so glad He is fond of repeating Himself. See, I wrote...
What I Wore
3 Truths: There are exactly 3 laundry baskets full of clean clothes in my bedroom just waiting to be folded. They've been there since Saturday. I miss wearing real perfume. I stopped years ago when I started having babies. I think it is time to smell better. Last week...

All she wanted in the whole world was hair clips. It was her highest priority. Livia Satterfield did not imagine she could ever have a family. Growing up in an orphanage in Romania took away any hope of that dream years ago. But, hair clips became her obsession. One...
What I Wore
It has been an eventful week. I went through a public break-up with my skinny jeans. And, I wore 2 skirts. That is some sort of record for me. I have also decided orange is the new black. Either that or I just like it. Here are a few things I wore: Left: Orange...
I'm Breaking Up With My Skinny Jeans
Oh Skinny Jeans it has been fun. But, I'm breaking up with you. For a while you were fun and hip and I could pretend like I was cool. But lately, I've had doubts. It isn't you, it's me. I promise. It all started a month or so ago when I was shopping and I saw a few...
What I Wore
Yesterday, I wore two different earrings and no one noticed. I discovered this at 9:00PM. Yes, I did that. Last week, I went to 8 different stores over 3 different days to find an appropriate Easter outfit for my teenage daughter. Guess where we discovered not one but...
When Spring Breaks You a Little
Today is the Tuesday after Spring Break. Easter baskets with plastic eggs sit on my counter with several pieces of second choice candy bits left over. The sun is warm (finally) and I'm trying hard not to drink a fourth cup of coffee. The past few weeks have been a...
What I Wore
Last week I missed What I Wore and my friend Jill called me out on Twitter: And then I was all like: In my defense, my husband has been out of the country for 18 days. It is a miracle I kept all the children alive, fed them, and managed to have some sort of routine....
