Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
What I Wore
Is it just me or do I look like I should be saying, "How you doin?" (like Joey on Friends) in the middle picture? I think so. So Happy Wednesday! We are finally unpacked from our vacation, which is a major accomplishment. I was also able to get a few pictures of What...
Praying Through
"Scripture is God's way of initiating a conversation; prayer is our response. The paradigm shift happens when you realize that the Bible is not meant to be read through; the Bible was meant to be prayed through. And if you pray through it, you'll never run out of...
The Joy Dare
Sometimes you chase joy, and sometimes it chases you. The key is sitting still long enough to be caught. If you are like me, you might have to drive 1,000 miles and park yourself on a porch in the middle of a cornfield with zero smart phone coverage for it to be a...
Hi there, friend.
Hi there, friend. I've been thinking about you. There is something burning a hole in my heart that I want to tell you. I've said it before. In fact you can find it here on page 25. Last week I was reading a new book and this promise jumped off the page. I've thought...
You can take the girl out of Indiana, but…
Some would say, you can take the girl out of Indiana, but you can't take Indiana out of the girl. Some would be right about that. I was reminded this week of corn knee high by the 4th of July, the blessing of cousins, and the thrill of a lightning bug. We sat for real...
What I Wore
Last week I went on vacation to the midwest. It was hot. I mean hotter than hot. We ended up having a great time and I think I gained 10 pounds eating ice cream just trying to stay cool. I only took one picture that sorta kinda works for a What I Wore post. And guess...
What I'm Reading
This past week we left for vacation and this is what I'm reading. The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson I can't wait to tell you about it! So, what are you reading? (Over at MODSquad blog we are talking about the same thing today. Come on over!) {post contains...
One of My Greatest Prayers for My Kids
"The goal is not to get through the Bible. The goal is to get the Bible through us." -- Mark Batterson As I have been reading the Bible in 90 Days this summer, I have been sharing what I'm learning with my girls. Last week before bed, I was telling them about the...
Where 30 Days of Reading the Bible Will Land You
"There is no one like you, Lord, and there is no God but you....and who is like your people Israel - the one nation on earth whose God went out to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out...
The Joy Dare
Last week it rained. Like a lot. We were stuck indoors for days and my kids were crazy. I found myself dreadfully unmotivated and wondering how in the world I was ever going to get moving. And then I read this verse.... Splendor and majesty are before him, strength...
