Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
The Best of + My Homeschool Crib
From August to May, most mornings you will find me here. You might notice the mismatched chairs and the fact that I only have 2 of them, but teach 3 kids. Yes. That is how we roll. More chairs would be great. Student #3 is typically on her bed or on the floor doing...
Back to School :: Our Curriculum
Gather with a group of homeschool moms, and in about 10 seconds flat you will be talking about curriculum. And usually, the curriculum conversation is about math. Am I right? I know this because typically, I am the one asking the questions. I like to know what...
Back To School :: What Kind of Planner are You? {Giveaway}
Today is the day. We are back to school. My girls will devour the donuts, I will drink an extra cup of coffee and we will dream of what the year holds for us. I don't write about it much, but homeschooling is a huge part of our lives. I think finally, as I start my...
Back to School Week :: God Did Not Call me to a Quiet House
God did not call me to a quiet house... Linda Werner, Circle Christian Schools I long for quiet. I wake up crazy early, every day so I can have a quiet time with the Lord. I stay up too late after they go to bed, simply listening to the air conditioning run, and the...
Multitude Monday
6 years ago, I took her to a Kindergarten Sunday school class for the first time. In 6 more, she'll be a senior. Today, I sat in 6th grade orientation for our church's student ministry. So here we are, somewhere in the middle of my mothering and I'm counting my...
Did you read, "The Help" ?
"I guess I got to go," I say, even though I'd rather spend the rest of my life right here in Aibileen's cozy little kitchen, having her explain the world to me. That's what I love about Aibileen, she can take the most complicated things in life and wrap them up so...
What I Wore Wednesday :: Shocking Confessions
After being gone for 3 weeks and living out of a suitcase, I am finally back home and trying to get into some sort of routine. While we were gone, I wore mostly t-shirts and shorts and did not count one single calorie. If I did, about 7,000 of those calories would...

Multitude Monday
She decides to make him a pie for his birthday. It's her first attempt at putting love in a dish. I shuffle through my recipes and put together the perfect combination of cookie crust goodness and sweet blackberry filling. Frozen not fresh, but still, he will smile...
