Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

She Plays Grace

She plays grace... Long fingers, like her daddy,  placed on white and black keys.  She’s pausing and thinking how it goes.  It is unnatural for her to find the notes.  But then in the midst of the learning, the tune emerges.  Soon, it will flow from heart to hand and...

What I Wore Wednesday

This past week, I had two chances, outside the ordinary jeans and t-shirts to get dressed up.  I attended our church's Easter Drama with my oldest daughter on Friday and celebrated 17 years of marriage with my husband on Saturday.  Both outfits feature my love for all...
