Did you watch the Oscars Sunday night? Did you have a favorite dress? I thought Jennifer Hudson looked amazing! I loved what Halle Barry said when asked what she liked about the show: (to my best recollection):
I am a slave to fashion. I love seeing how women interpret their idea of glamour.
I like to see how they want to present themselves, on this night for everyone to see.
Her statement got me thinking about how I want to present myself every day. In real life, I’m not walking a red carpet for photographers. But more importantly, I am presenting myself to my husband and 4 pairs of eyes that belong to the sweetest girls in the world. What do I want them to see? I don’t want them to see a slave to fashion, but I do want them to see a mom who presented herself well, because they were worth me dressing up (a little), and looking the best I can.
Left: Black and white shirt {Kohls}, Black 3/4 cardi {Walmart}, Fave pair of jeans {Gap}.
Center: Navy blue striped deck hand tee {CAbi}, Denim Skirt { JC Penny}.
Right: Navy ribbed tank {Old Navy}, White 3/4 cardi {new from Old Navy}, Long khaki shorts {Izod}.

And just for fun, my Gussy Cam Shots.
I am enjoying this link up at The Pleated Poppy each week. The truth is, I love this light hearted conversation. If you and I could sit down and chat for a few minutes over coffee, I might say, “Where did you get that cute shirt?” or “I love your hair!” We’d talk about our crazy day,the kids, and I might even tell you what God is teaching me about Grace. But we’d cover this type of stuff too. The day to day life stuff. The girl stuff. The stuff that makes us smile!

So let’s chat! Oscar fashion? How is your heart today? What made you smile? Did you pick up any spring cuteness this past weekend? Thanks for spending time with me today at @29lincolnavenue!
Looking great honey and how do you pull off a good face when taking your own photo, I always looks a bit mad. Have a wonderful week and cate b won the night for me. ax
You should see the pics I don’t use! 🙂 And yes, Cate always looks amazing, such class, and I’m not sure anyone else could have worn that dress so well
You are so darn cute!! I am with you on trying to look nice each day. Because little eyes are watching and because I feel better if I have hair and makeup done and something other than sweatpants and a t shirt on!
That is so true Marci – when I put forth the effort, I feel better. And, it is a chance for me to be a little creative too, which I’m finding for me is life-giving!
(and thanks for the cuteness comment!)
You look terrific in all your outfits!
Thanks Heather! I hope you have a great day!
You are inspirational! And you post like we ARE having coffee! Love it, so keep it up. 🙂
That is the sweetest thing you could have said! Thanks Robyn!
I agree with Robyn! It’s like we were just chatting over coffee. You are adorable! Love your 1st outfit. Great shirt.
Ok – that makes 3 for coffee! Got it! Thanks for your sweet words Sherri!
Very well said! That’s why I blog honestly…to have some woman/girl power that makes us all feel connected to other wives/moms/women in general just trying to live life! Great outfits by the way…love the stripes on you!
I so agree Nicole! The blogging community is so fun and welcoming! The stripes are by CAbi, and I hear they are super big this spring! My CAbi consultant is Brooke you can find her here: http://www.brookyeager.cabionline.com/
You look adorable!
I agree that it is important to pay attention to how we present ourselves each day. Sometimes I struggle to do it (when baby is yelling and clinging to my leg)! But whenever I do, it feels good. And it’s always nice when someone stops by for a surprise visit!
oh, i like you!
“i don’t want to be a slave to fashion, but i want them to see a mom who presented herself well.”
i too would say “i like your shirt” (all three in fact). small talk would lead into heart talk, then into grace talk.
i’d tell you…
“grace” has become my new best friend. i want to hang around “grace” all the time! “grace” sees in me what i do not see in myself, but have always hoped was there. i can’t believe i avoided being friends with “grace” for so long. i’m so grateful “grace” pursued me anyway. i’m looking forward to friendship that will last a life time (and beyond) with “grace.” oh the stories we will tell together. hmmm.
Love your perspective on grace! And, you are right, the small talk does lead to heart talk!
