[callout]I love posting What I Wore *most* Wednesdays. This post, which dates back to my first blog back in 2011, is one of my most viewed posts. It may have been because my friend Nester shared it. Or, it may have been because you love What I Wore as much as I do. Either way, this post still gets lots of love.[/callout]
Last Wednesday, I mentioned that I had learned a lot since I started my What I Wore Wednesday posts a couple months ago. My friend Gretchen urged me to share more on that subject. So, I thought this week I would tell enquiring minds what they want to know! Or at least my friend Gretchen…
Set a goal and just do it. In January, I made a decision to LOSE IT (the 4th baby extra cushion). The picture on the left is the first picture I took for WIWW. The one on the right is one I took last week. Taking a picture every day of myself has given me great motivation to watch what I eat and get moving.
Left :: Indiana t-shirt, my fave Gap Jeans, White Long Sleeve T {JC Penny}.
Center :: Navy Blue Tank {Old Navy}, Tunic Blouse {H&M}, White Cardi {Old Navy}, The jeans.
Right :: Black V-neck Knotted T {Ann Taylor}, Boyfriend Cuffed Capri’s {Eddie Bauer}.
Layer. Layer. Layer. And use what you have. I do not have a huge budget to shop for clothing. One of the things I have learned is to add a layer to change up a shirt that I’ve had for a while. Now, this becomes a little bit harder for summer, because I live in the south and it is Hot. Hot. Hot. So, working within that small budget I make a list of items I want to add to my wardrobe and keep my eyes open for them at all kinds of stores from Walmart to the Mall.
Left :: Coral Tank {Old Navy}, Blue button front T {Walmart}, The jeans {Gap}
Center :: Same Tunic from above but adding a Navy Blue 3/4 Sleeve Cardi {Walmart}
Right :: Bright Pink Cami {Walmart}, Grey V-neck T {Kohls}, Black 3/4 Sleeve Cardi {Walmart}
Color is your friend. I’m a mom. I don’t always get the sleep I need and some days I don’t feel like wearing color. But as soon as I put it on I look and feel better. One of my goals now, is to put more color in my wardrobe.
Left :: Bright Yellow T {Ann Taylor Loft}, Navy Blue Cozy Hoodie {CAbi}, Long & Lean Jeans {Gap}.
Center :: Red Blouse {Eddie Bauer}, Olive Green Tank {Target}, Boyfriend Cuffed Capri’s {Eddie Bauer}.
Right :: Red Jacket {ATL}, Grey V-neck T {Kohls}, Long & Lean Jeans {Gap}.
And the most important lesson I’ve learned. Have fun. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Get a makeover. Smile more. Grow your hair out at 40. Take a risk…like posting WIWW every week.

What about you? What have you learned lately? Let’s chat! Check out the adorable Lindsey and the other WIWW gals over at:
I love love love your WIWW’s the most! 🙂 I love all of the cardigans you wear. Cardigans are one of my favorite things to wear, but like you, where I live, it’s usually pushing or over 100 degrees most of the summer.
By the way, I just wanted to tell you that I love your blog layout. I use a feed reader, so it’s pretty rare for me to view the blog posts on their actual site {except for commenting}, but I almost always come directly to your blog site to read. It really does feel like I’m sitting on your front porch here! Love it and love you!
Your faithful reader, Tay
Thanks for saying that Tay! I’m so glad you love stopping by! That is truly my heart and my hope with this space!
And Cardi’s are a fave of mine too! Old Navy had so me great ones this year!
I really enjoyed this post!! It made me feel good to see that others are kind of where I am…with learning more about how to use their wardrobe…to a budget. But what I liked most was your comment about your hair. I’m in my early 30’s and struggle with what is “right” for my age. But I’m getting closer to my long hair again . . . so I liked your comment in regards to growing out your hair!
Have a blessed day!
You’re so pretty! Congrats on the loss of your bebe weight. You look fabulous!
{blushing I am}.
I love what you shared about what you’ve learned. I’m nodding my head in total agreement! You look great!
You look beautiful! And knowing you….You are just as beautiful on the inside as well. I love layering! I am a tank top queen and put them under everything to add color. I love that you have shown how you do it, and on a limited budget as many of us are. You look so fantastic, and modest all at the same time. Love that!
xoxo
Denise
Thanks Denise you are so sweet! See – your comment is right here where you left it!
You’re 40?!! You don’t look it, girl!
And congrats on the bye bye baby weight!!!
I’m walking away from this post w/ “color is your friend” while I repeat it over & over. 🙂
Erin – the original title I had for that paragraph was, “Repeat After Me :: Color is your friend.” So your comment makes me laugh! Yes! More color, please! And thanks for saying I don’t look 40…I sure feel it lately!
You look GREAT! And I LOVE that last photo of you looking into the camera and the one of you in the red shirt… red is your color, Girl!
I love red!! Thanks for saying that Michelle! Hope you are having a great summer so far!
Thanks for sharing, girl! Great lessons… I love you!

Hey Melissa! So nice to meet you! Sounds like we live very similar lives! It took me about 19 months to lose it. 9 months on, 19 months off…that is normal right? 🙂
Hi! I started my little blog 3 months ago when my 3rd baby was 2 months old! It’s really encouraging to see the pictures from October to now! You look great! Good luck with losing your baby weight!
