“But in the greatest depths, it is our privilege that we may cry unto God and be heard.”

Matthew Henry

We have a God in heaven who  meets us in the depths of despair.  (Click to Tweet)

“From the depths of disaster I appeal to You, O Eternal One:
Lord, hear my cry! Attune Your ears to my humble prayer” (Psalm 130:1-2).

This is no small thing. He meets us. He invites us to call to Him.
We don’t have to be in a good place or nice and pretty to cry out to the Lord. We can call on Him in the pit.

“So I wait for the Eternal—my soul awaits rescue
and I put my hope in His transforming word.
My soul waits for the Lord to break into the world
more than night watchmen expect the break of day,
even more than night watchmen expect the break of day” (Psalm 130:5-6)

  • He forgives us.
  • He rescues us.
  • He brings transforming hope, steadfast love, and the most abundant redemption.

Truly, this is good news.

Have you ever watched the first ray of light break through the darkness in the early hours of the morning? At first it pierces the night and cuts through the darkness until the sky is aglow with light and is consumed by the morning.

We can expect Him to break into our world with its mess and despair just like that.

We have His Word on it.

As we approach Easter during this Lenten Season may we never forget this is what Easter is all about—He broke into our world with its mess and despair to save us. We could not save ourselves. He came to us. He brought hope, love, and redemption to us. Hand delivered on the cross. He did that.

Hallelujah.

Today I’m linking up with the #shereadstruth community. I have loved digging into God’s Word with these women. My friend Tracie is my accountability partner to be in the Word each morning. I loved her post today on this as well!
