Hello happy readers! If you are a book-worm, word-nerd, who reads every single day this is for you. If you are a beach reader who would rather read then scroll this is for you. If. you WANT to be a reader and have goals in 2026 to read more, this is for you. Basically if you like books, this is for you.!
I read a lot of books. I want to preface this by saying that you don’t need to read a lot of books to be a reader. I’m not even going to tell you what to read. There are plenty of books I don’t read, and I’ve let go of feeling like I should read certain books (other than the Bible which I definetly think you should read). I have friends who only read non-fiction (I used to do that). And I have friends who love scfi (that is not me by the way). So my list may not be for you. I read what I read because I like them or the the authors who wrote them. And as a grown-up reader, if I don’t like a book for whatever reason, I stop reading it.
Life is too short to read bad books (or books that you don’t like).
Also, I don’t really watch TV. I’m just not inspired to do that much any more. Oh there are times I’ll jump into a show (hello Scarlett and the Duke before Duke left) or watch something with one of my girls because they ask. I just don’t love TV. And reading is how I decompress.
This year I’ve read 123 books. I read mostly on my Kindle Paperwhite which I LOVE!!! But I also have hard copy books as well. I generally prefer non-fiction to be read in a hard copy version and fiction on my Kindle. I like that my Kindle travels well anywhere! And, I also love the convenience of not havintg to use a book light at night (the Paperwhite is not blue light so I fall asleep reading). So I mix it up. I also use Libby (IYKYK) for free library books. And in November I gifted myself Kindle Unlimited for 3 months for .99 because that is too good to pass up. I’ll be reading fast and more until February 2026.
I haven’t decided on my reading goal for 2026. I do want to be more intentional with my non-fiction reading and to pick a good biography to read. I missed that particular genre this year! I’m guessing my goal will be aroun 100 books. But for now, here is the best of what I read in 2025. (Affiliate links included)
