Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Lately
About two weeks ago I sent this picture and a text to a friend and said: "Can I wear leggings at 42?" She said yes as long as my back side (ahem) was covered. I bought them. Something I've prayed over, waited on, and cried over became a real live moment in my life. I...
Coming Back to Gratitude
It is time to come back to gratitude in this space on Mondays. It hasn't felt the same here since I stopped recording gifts. I have missed the simplicity of remembering, celebrating, and list making. So today, on a super normal January 20, 2014, I'm starting a new...
What I Wore: Latest Stitch Fix
I waited for 2 whole months for my latest Stitch Fix. Apparently the busy worker bees at Stitch Fix have gotten very popular. Then the Winter Storm of the decade caused my little white and green box to delay a bit longer. So, when it finally arrived I might have been...
Overwhelmed? Mom, Here is what you can do in 2014
"We can speak life giving words. We can say yes to some things. We can say no to others. We can teach them God’s Word. We can learn it ourselves. . ." (keep reading over here)

What I Wore: Reuniting with My Skinny Jeans
So, remember when I broke up with my skinny jeans? I felt really great about that decision all summer long. But then, fall happened. And boots happened. I started having doubts. A girl can doubt fashion decisions right? While I was wavering on whether to go back and...
Get it Today! "Praying for Boys" by Brooke McGlothlin {giveaway}
“Parents who pray for their children recognize their own inability to change their children’s hearts, and put their faith and hope in the God who can.” A new book from Brooke McGlothlin, #PrayingForBoys www.prayingforboys.com I know what you are thinking. I don't...
2014: Beyond #oneword
{#oneword is sought through prayer and listening to God's heart on the matter. It is asking, "God what do you want to do through me and in me this year?" It is a commitment let Him use this #oneword to frame my year however He sees fit.} Beyond: according to...
A Final Word for 2013
I've spent most of the days since Christmas wondering how to wrap up my Word for 2013 and praying about my Word for 2014. I can't say I feel closure on Become or a clear direction on what is going to frame my year ahead. I do know this one thing: Part of becoming who...
5 Things I Learned in December
December had more activities than it had days to do them. I'm pretty sure I hit the wall a few days ago after the last present was unwrapped. I don't know about you but I can't put two sentences together or make any decisions this week to save my life. I'm telling...
