Hope. Everything I Need .020

I think the job I feel most ill-equipped to perform is my role as mom to four girls. There is not one day that goes by where I think, “I’ve got this. I am totally rocking this mom thing.” Instead I feel my gaps intensely and it makes me want to hide in my bedroom with a large bag of M&M’s and let my girls Google what BIG answers they need to life.”

I’m kidding. Mostly. I never kid about M&M’s.

God knows. He understands and He doesn’t want my lack or gaps or M&M binging to make me run away. He wants all those things to cause me to run to him. Because he has the answers and then some.

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,” 1 Peter 1:3

You see, he has already granted to me (and of course by me I mean all of us) ALL the things I need for life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed*.  Sounds like motherhood to me, right?

Did you catch the who it all hinges upon?

His divine power

through knowledge of him

his own glory and excellence

Not once does it say that I have to equip myself for this journey. He has already taken care of that gigantic detail of providing everything I need. My part is to run to him instead of from him. My part is to seek him in the morning, talk to him throughout the day, tell him when I’m weary, and sing about him loudly in front of my girls when I’m eying the bedroom and the bag of M&M’s.

I don’t know about you, but this part of reclaiming my freedom and living out my identity as God’s own daughter is one that I need right now. I need to stand on this promise because Monday is coming and there is so much at stake. Let’s take turns reminding each other we don’t have this. God does.

xo,

Stacey
