Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Lately
I scrolled through my blog feed today and noticed fewer words. You may have noticed too. There are reasons of course, but I thought I would let you know what I've been up to lately. We are finally into summer full swing. My brain is breathing a bit. I find a little...
What I Wore
What? It is Wednesday? I had no idea and I'm blaming the holiday on Monday for throwing me off! Thanks for your sweet words of encouragement last week about my 5 extra pounds. I mean really, you are the best. Here are a few things I wore this week! Left: Hoodie...
What I Wore – What to do with 5 Extra Pounds
It happened. It happens. Those 5 extra pounds I really didn't want to find me right before bathing suit season—did. Mainly because 5 other pounds had already found me and now there is like 10 pounds I really would appreciate finding another place to hang out. But...
What I Wore
Hello Wednesday! Let's do this! I am counting the days until summer break and looking (still) for a pair of cute sandals or flats I enjoy wearing as much as my cute boots. Any ideas? So, each Wednesday I post what I Wore (or some of what I wore) so I can stay...
Just One More Cast of the Net, Weary Mom
"As moms, we can feel trapped in a long-term assignment… that often makes us feel like failures. But I’m beginning to understand that there is a way to find hope. I think our victory, like Peter’s, starts with just one more cast of the net." Brooke McGlothlin...
What I Wore | Stitch Fix Box 9
My last What I Wore blog post was 3 weeks ago. Two days before we started an 8 day hospital stay with one of my girls. I promise you, what I wore during that week would not be noteworthy. Except for the fact, by way of confession, I wore one outfit for about 48 hours...

Maybe you have already bought something for your mom or dropped a sweet hint to your baby daddy about what you might want for your big day. But in case you are like me and you need a few ideas, here are 5 things I love for "Mom."(FYI: This post contains some affiliate...
The One Thing You Need To Know When The World Rages And Quakes
I found myself making the best of a chair beside her hospital bed in the wee small hours of Friday morning. She was sleeping. I was wrestling in a pit of despair. It felt like I was drowning without water. There were no eloquent words. No verses that rose up from the...
What I Wore
It is Wednesday! Today is the day we talk about super important stuff. OK, not really, but we all get dressed every.single.day. I am trying my best to make some good decisions about that. This is why I link up with Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy most weeks and do...
You Are Victorious
Today, I achieved a handful of mom victories. . . I chased a black lizard out of my house with a broom. Lizards are basically tiny snakes with feet. A house full of girls does not think they are cute and neither do I. I cut gum out of my five year olds hair. It...
