Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Behind the Scenes: Let’s Talk About My New Bible Study

I've been a Bible Study Girl since my freshman year at Indiana University. I was walking back from class praying that God would help me find a group of Jesus loving students,  when I saw a sign in an elevator in my dorm about a women's Bible study. I immediately went...

What I’m Loving in May!

Welcome to “What I’m Loving!”  This list exists because I love them. I always read them from some of my favorite interneters (Myquillyn Smith, Emily Lex, etc). And in the past year, since I’ve been sharing my own list, you have loved them too. Thank you for your...

One Way Not to Grow Forgetful

She left it on the bed when I was trying to grab a desperately needed Sunday nap. "Tea and cookies for you mommy. I'll leave it here." She bounced out of the room like the Tigger she is and I cracked my eyes open to see the sweetest offering for her weary mom.  And...

What I Wore: Survival Kit #mystyle

Recently I had the nice folks at Red Envelope ask me about my style and if I would include a post for What I Wore on the subject. Because I like to pretend I'm a fashion blogger I took on the challenge. But then I had to answer this question? What is my personal...

Exhaling

One week ago everything in my life came to a screeching halt. I packed my bags and witnessed nothing short of a miracle in my dad's life.  Yet, upon returning home, I found myself somewhat lost and wondering aimlessly through my days. I was behind on every mommy task...

What I Wore

Happy February 14 friends! I trust you will be setting aside any calorie counting and enjoying you favorite treat with your favorite people. Here at our house we have a tradition of having dessert for dinner. I think tonight it will be blackberry pie for my guy and...

What I Wore

I'm writing this from the airport at zero dark thirty hours. Today, I'm pretty much wearing every bit of clothing I own because I'm heading north to be with family. I think it is -35degrees there. I grabbed this coat from the Juniors Department at Macy's. It was half...

Truth Your Heart Needs to Hear from Holley Gerth

My sweet friend Holley Gerth has a brand new book out today! You know I'm a huge fan, and I asked her to stop by and share an excerpt from the book. She, in all her awesomeness, said yes! Yeah for us. The title of her new book is "You're Going to Be Okay: Encouraging...

What is Better than Grace Upon Grace?

I keep reading the words of John 1:16 written on the memo board in my kitchen and He in turn asks me: What is better than grace upon grace? And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full...

What I Wore: The Scarf Post

I am seriously considering moving What I Wore to Fridays. I know this is a big change, and I think we all love Wednesdays and the What I Wore goes so well with the "W" day of the week. But here is the thing. Friday just seems like a What I Wore day. Plus, I have a bit...
