Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

What I’m Loving in April

What I’m Loving in January

Happy January! I love a fresh start, how about you? I've been back in the office and thinking through my 2026 goals. I LOVE vision planning, always have. But sometimes it takes a bit to keep me motivated. Here are a few things I'm loving in January for 2026!  This...

You can take the girl out of Indiana, but…

Some would say, you can take the girl out of Indiana, but you can't take Indiana out of the girl. Some would be right about that. I was reminded this week of corn knee high by the 4th of July, the blessing of cousins, and the thrill of a lightning bug. We sat for real...

What I Wore

Last week I went on vacation to the midwest. It was hot. I mean hotter than hot. We ended up having a great time and I think I gained 10 pounds eating ice cream just trying to stay cool.  I only took one picture that sorta kinda works for a What I Wore post. And guess...

What I'm Reading

The Joy Dare

Last week it rained. Like a lot. We were stuck indoors for days and my kids were crazy. I found myself dreadfully unmotivated and wondering how in the world I was ever going to get moving. And then I read this verse.... Splendor and majesty are before him, strength...

What I Wore

Great outfits deserve to be worn often. Good outfits do, too. This week was all about repeats.  I'm really okay with that.  I love to mix it up and try new things, but sometimes it is okay to just go with something you have worn before and be comfortable. Left:...

The Joy Dare

Joy is everywhere...can you see it?  Do you need God to open your eyes? I know that there are days that my joy eyes see a little less.  Not because the joy is not there, but because I simply don't have the vision to see it right before me. I pray, like Elisha's...

When Your Story has a But…

"But the thing David had done displeased the Lord." 2 Samuel 11:27 David was called a man after God's own heart. He was a strong warrior for the Lord. He had faith to kill a giant that made grown men run for the hills.  He stirred the loyalty of mighty men who...
