Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
When You are Not Sure if You Are Ready
Only God could orchestrate such a thing. I wonder at what point in my life I’ll stop thinking something is too hard for him. I’m guessing that truly takes a lifetime. I came back to a song, last night, that has been on my playlist for a couple of years. My sweet...
How I Study the Bible: LIFE Study Method
I prayed long and hard about the next book I would write. As I did, God began to unfold the idea of a series of books just for girlfriends like us. It wouldn't be just one book, but a set of books, based on the Bible. They would sound more like a conversation over...
Perfect End of Summer Book!
Do you need a perfect end of summer book to read? Might I make a suggestion? Fresh Out of Amazing is my own come out hiding story. Maybe it is your story too. Do you feel like you are responsible for all the things? Has your dream died? Does it look like every other...
The Word of God is Your LIFE
God's Word is powerful. Time and and time again when I have been weak and weary, God has used his Word to heal my heart. Not one time have I come seeking to be filled up when God has denied me. I think this is why I can't stop telling women about my love for God's...
If We Met for Coffee: My Chatologie Podcast Interview
Clearly, I'm a girl who enjoys a good cup of coffee. It is even better when I get to slow drink a cup with a dear friend on the other side of the table. I wish we could sit down together today and talk about all the things. We would probably start with the usual, "How...
On Writing and the Right Now
I heard an author say once, "It is about a two year process from start to finish with each book." First you write and edit it. This process usually happens in the first year months before anyone even knows the book exists, you are hammering away on your laptop...
Jesus. Girlfriends. Coffee. The perfect blend.
Are you the kind of girl who reads the last page of a good novel first? Do you sneak dessert when the kids aren't looking? Do you pick up conversations where you left off days ago with your best friend without saying, "Hi, how are you doing?" because you already know...
Sometimes it takes longer to exhale
I read an article recently that reminded me that sometimes we are way past tired. The world calls it exhausted, but I would say I'm weary. Worn thin. You can see it if you happen to bump into me. I keep thinking if I just sit by the pool a little bit, or get more...
Fresh-Out-of-Amazing Girls Need What They Are Running From
I am honored to be a guest writer at We Are That Family this week. I met Kristen years ago through blogging and have followed her journey with Mercy House Global from the beginning. I love her heart and the work God is doing through her. Love for you to join me there...
Even If…I Still Will
More than one friend encouraged me during our darkest hours in the ICU, to sing over Mike. Having poured out my heart in worship the night of his cardiac arrest, as God would plan it, I really didn’t have anything left. I mouthed the words to “Holy Spirit” in his room...
