Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week I am in Nashville at the LIfeWay Women's Forum and I have to tell you God has been truly speaking to my heart. I will tell you more about that later, but just so you know I was particularly blessed by a session with Kelly Minter. She was talking about...

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week got away from me. I mean we started off sending our kids out to get candy for us, right? My littles still think Trick-or-Treating is the best idea ever. I am not always of the same mind. I usually fuss about it in my head and dread the whole event. And then,...

What I Wore | More of What I’ve Learned

It seems like ages since we talked about good old "What I Wore Wednesday" around here. If you are new(ish) to my blog you may not know that once upon a blog time I started posting about What I Wore every Wednesday. (I didn't come up with this idea. It was Lindsey.) I...

Weekly Wrap-Up

"I nourish my life with good intentions and expect it to thrive when only Jesus can quench my soul-deep thirst." *Open Your Bible I could use a little (make that a lot) of quenching of my soul-deep thirst. I'm feeling every bit poured out this week. The good news is...

So Glad You Are Here

Hey friend! I'm so glad you are here.  Maybe you found yourself here because you saw a few of my words over here or here. Or maybe, you are checking in because it is Tuesday and that is your Tuesday thing. I hope you brought your coffee and hang out for awhile with...
