Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

August is a good time to start something new. Even more so than January, every August I feel motivated to regroup. Do you? I think it is because the  smell of #2 pencils is in the air.  (You've God Mail reference) Plus, I can't pass up a new box of crayons no matter...

What I Wore

Hey friends! Can you believe it is Wednesday? They just keep coming don't they? What I Wore, in case you don't know, is a challenge I love from Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy. The heart behind it is to get up, get dressed in something other than yoga pants, and take a...

Are you overwhelmed?

This past weekend I had a mini-melt down over ordering books and such for our school year. Today, my husband gave me some delightful news which translated in my head sounded like one more thing I had to do. God knew this when he led me to my study of Titus 1:4 in the...

What I Wore

What I Wore

We are back from vacation and what I have come to realize is there needs to be another word for vacation for moms. I love getting away from normal every day life with my people. I even like (a little) our time in the van which seems somewhat timeless. But, it really...

Have you ever went shopping for a new outfit to wear to a special event and just hoped like crazy somebody said something about how nice you looked? Or at least, they noticed you did your hair up and put a little more effort into putting on your makeup. Well friends,...

What I Wore

There is a reason I do not DIY much of anything. Today, I'm going to tell you a story to illustrate why. I think it will be the first thing you laugh at today and  really, that is OK with me. We need a little more laughter, right? See those oh so cute denim shorts in...
