Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
To Savor or Say
I make myself a cup of Bengal Spice Tea with whipped cream and sit down in my big white Ikea chair with my laptop open. I take a sip of tea and close my eyes. "What do I say?" Do I keep it light? Do I go deep? Do I tell you my mind is a soupy mess and my words feel...
What I Wore
You all were so sweet last week! I loved bringing back What I Wore, too! So, even though this week is KRA-zy around here I decided to make this THE post of the week. Also there is the fact that I remembered I was taking Selfies before it was cool. Like 20 years ago...
Being OK with Where You Are {Chapter 10}
From Chapter 10 {Worship Anyway} "I have this theory. When we are not ok with where we are we feel it so deep down in our bones it colors everything we do. We set up shop in a place called Pity Party loving our own misery a little too much. We like our safe, sad...
What I Wore
Has it been forever since we had a regular, plain, old Wednesday around these parts? Oh my heart needs one for sure. I can't be sure if we will have one next week because it is dance recital week (somebody pray) and I might just be too tired and worn out from making...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 9}
From Chapter 9 {Perseverance} On the days when I take two steps forward only to slide back four or five I am incredibly grateful for the up close and personal examples of the women of the Bible. They remind me when I am not OK with where I am, the point is to...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 8}
“I wonder, Lord, how do I honor You, while I am still desiring the very thing You saw fit to cut away?” And then as soon as I take the next breath, I have my answer. He whispers…”Give thanks.” From Chapter 8 {Live Thankful} "Life has a tendency to go on and on....
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 7}
"You can’t go over it. You can’t go under it. You have to go through it.” We Are Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen There is simply no way to go over, under, or around the subject of pruning. We will at some point have to go through it. Let’s go through it...
Being Ok With Where You Are {Chapter 6}
From Chapter 6 {You May Need a Cheerleader} Encouragement. Say it again. Encouragement. You need it now more than you know. You have walked toward being OK with where you are for the past few weeks bravely. I'm so proud of you. But, you still have days when you...
Am I OK with Where I Am?
People keep asking and I'm guessing you are wondering, too. They want to know how I am. They wonder how long is the right amount of time to let me be and expect me to smile back and say, "I'm good. Fine. How are you?" Truthfully, I'm OK. I'm sad and OK. Lately, I've...
Being OK With Where You Are {Chapter 5}
Do you feel a little broken down? Are you ready for a breath of fresh air? Me, too. From Chapter 5: {Standing on the Promises} When God Tosses You a Lifeline Take It I learned something last week while my girls were casually swimming at the pool. My three year...
