Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

Things I Learned in June

Emily Freeman is hosting a link-up today called "Things I Learned in June" so I thought I'd play along. And let's be honest, since it is summer and June is a month my brain usually goes on a long vacation, I'm way impressed I learned something. Plus, you all know my...

Can I Pray for You?

I want to pray over you today.  This isn't my  prayer. It is David's. He was not a mom. He was a king. He was not being overwhelmed by toddlers or arguing with a teenager. He was running for His life from a crazy man, which may sort of be the same thing. What we know...

What I Wore

Summer is like a welcome house guest at our  place. She comes with a cute tote bag filled with all sorts of lazy and camp fun. I want her to stay for more than 12 weeks but she insists that I would tire of her. I would argue, but I thinks she is probably right. Plus,...

To Walk or Stay Book Club

Earlier this spring, I asked you a few questions: What if you found yourself in a very difficult situation?  What if that difficult situation was your marriage? What if you had every reason to walk away, but God asked you to stay? This question was inspired by friend...

Confessions of a Cardigan Addict

Last January I wrote a post for a blog called Together in 10 which was the premiere fashion blog for the mommy crowd. It was such a fun post with the best comments. Sadly, the Together in 10 site died a very unhappy death and so did my post. I've been looking for it...

What I Wore : A Few Favorites for Summer

Confession, I did not get my photos ready for my traditional What I Wore Wednesday post. I did get my daughter ready for camp, launch a new blog, and swap bedrooms for my girls. I'm pretty sure this is medal worthy. Or at least chocolate worthy. Especially the part...

What I Wore

So I know I was MIA last week with What I Wore, but I have good reason. I was here... And mostly I was wearing what I'm sure was a mom bathing suit. But,I won't show you any of those pictures for obvious reasons. We had a lovely time. I could stare at this scene for...
