Everything started here

I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.

It was through learning to write and create content there  (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the  rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.

Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are  bookish by nature.

But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.

And I suspect I always will.

Pray With Me This Christmas!

Distractions can pull us in all directions at Christmastime. It's hard to figure out how to celebrate the birth of Christ in a meaningful way when there are gifts to buy, cookies to bake, and events to add to the calendar. But what if right now, we made a plan to be...

5 Years of Threadbare Prayer

There is something about October that pulls my heart back to simple prayers. I suppose it might be because my wandering heart has been tuned to this song of lament over and over again. A few years ago I started writing Threadbare Prayers on my blog during a wilderness...

Winter Home :: (part 2)

After the color of Christmas is stored for another year, my winter home feels like a black and white picture. Soft. Meaningful. And easy on the eyes. I'm letting this image inspire me by using vintage cameras and books as decor in my winter home. Last week, I shared...

Grace Notes :: One Word

One Word to inspire. One Word to frame your year. One Word to move you forward in your relationship with The Lord. One Word to focus on for 2011. Do you have One Word? I'm sure you can guess mine. I wasn't planning on writing this post.  But sometimes,  a post writes...

Multitude Monday

All God makes is good. Can it be that, that which seems to oppose the will of God actually is used of Him to accomplish the will of God? That which seems evil only seems so because of perspective, the way the eyes see the shadows.  Above the clouds, light never stops...

The Best Of :: Life in Grace

I found the sweetest blog, Life In Grace, over a year ago. Then I lost it.   I re-found it during The Nester's Christmas Home Tour. As soon as I landed on on her link, I  thought, "Oh I love her!" I spent several minutes on her lovely red and turquoie blog  and...

Winter Home :: {Inspirations}

Do you decorate your home for winter? During Christmas I truly enjoyed the touches of silver in my home.  I have decided to keep it around for the month of January.  I'm also using white and adding touches of green.  Here are some inspirations I found online to help...

Grace Notes :: Beginnings

Let's start at the very beginning, shall we? (Yes I'm singing along with Julie Andrews!) What is grace? Definitions by nature are bookish.  For the beginning of this Grace journey I think it is a good place to start (insert my  nerdy love of words here). I am looking...

Multitude Monday

The house is quiet. My Starbucks cup is full and hot. The tree comes down tomorrow. And I'm counting 1,000 gifts... #602 Time to breathe. #603 Sleeping in. #604 First steps by my 1 year old. #605 Extra cups of coffee. #606 My mom who visits and manages to clean my...
