It happened more than once this past week.  And if I was a betting girl, I would tell you this will be the one question I will get more than any other about the book.

neverfeltamazing

Maybe you thought the same thing but you were too nervous to say it out loud. And maybe, you couldn’t bring yourself to buy it because you didn’t want people to think you thought you used to be amazing and somehow lost it.

I want you to know that this book is most definitely for you. In fact there is a chapter in the book called, “She’s Amazing and I’m Not.” You see,  your story is my story. It is my daughter’s story.  It is a story also found in Bible about two sisters named Rachel and Leah. Do you know about them? One sister was the “beauty queen” and the other sister “never felt amazing.” Guess what? Both of them were fresh out of amazing.  And yes,  I talk about all of us in Chapter 3. Here is what we want you to know.

You are seen and you are loved.

[callout]”When we are fresh out of amazing, God does not look at us and say, “Wow, I have nothing to work with here.” Instead, he bends down, he listens to our hearts, and he shows himself faithful.” Fresh Out of Amazing, p. 56.[/callout]

You are not alone.

“For years the Lord has been working on my heart regarding this matter of comparison. Lately, he has been whispering to me that being fresh out of amazing isn’t a one-way ticket to despair; it is an opportunity to see God be big. When we see God as big, we lose the desire to merely look at the horizontal. It isn’t that we completely miss all the things other amazing girls seem to be doing. But we aren’t threatened by them because we are more aware of the work God is doing in us. In fact, we might even be drawn to imitate those same amazing girls..” Fresh Out of Amazing, p. 58

The Answer Is the Same for all of us.

So, whether you felt amazing last year and it has gotten up and gone far, far away, or honestly, amazing has never been in your vocabulary, this book is for you. Because regardless of how you got here the answer is the same. It is accepting God’s invitation to see Him big.

We actually need what we may be running from.

I truly believe that when we are fresh out of amazing, we also deeply need the community we may be running from. So what one small step can you take to join hands with another sister in Christ so you can support each other? One idea might be to text a friend and say,

“Are you fresh out of amazing? Me, too. How about we read a book about that, together.”

Maybe you could just send her the link to this blog post and ask her what she thinks.

Either way, I promise, your great big God will join you.

xo,
Stacey
