Everything started here
I started writing on a blog called 29 Lincoln Avenue sixteen years ago. The name for my first blog came from the street address of the home I grew up in a small town in Southern Indiana. I loved the idea of inviting you into my “blog home” every week.
It was through learning to write and create content there (and then here) that I discovered my love for words and my voice as a writer. When I started, Twitter and Facebook were the rage and blogging found a unique place that would be writers (like me) were able to practice publishing more than a handful of words at at time.
Through blogging I started writing books. I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to put something more of my heart in the hands of those who are bookish by nature.
But even with Instagram, youTube, and every other social media option out there—I still love to add a few words here.
And I suspect I always will.
Humility in Daily Life
A couple of weeks ago I started reading a book by Andrew Murray called Humility: The Beauty of Holiness. As is generally the case when I study something, God gives me grace-filled opportunities to learn in daily life how to apply it. Case in point. I recently dumped...
1 Year of Threadbare Prayer
Can you believe it? Threadbare Prayer released 1 year ago today. And, honestly I have you to thank. This book moved from my own threadbare heart to this blog first. Remember? You asked for more. Which gave me a push to send it to my agent. She happened to have a...
I’m Back!
Friends. It has been 8 months since my last blog post! I feel the need to re-introduce myself around here! In case we haven't met yet, I'm Stacey! I've been blogging for 12 years. Except 2021 when my blog went down. I have missed this space so much. I'm not sure...
What I want My Girls to Know
Psalm 136:1 "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever." My girls are now 21, 18, 14, and 11. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of not only being their mom, but their teacher. So, we have been together a lot. Probably more than...
How To Journal Your Way Through Threadbare Prayer
I put words in a lot of places. I write notes on my phone, I make grocery lists on scraps paper that I almost always lose in the store, I have a journaling Bible filled with words in lined margins, and I still keep a daytimer that I saturate with notes-to-self and...
What if we Prayed for 100 Days?
My heart is heavy with so many hurts and heartaches I have heard about since releasing Threadbare Prayer in October. I have received numerous texts, messages on Facebook, and comments about how tears flow every time you read a prayer. I understand because that is...
There is Light, There is Hope, Because There is Jesus
I was so EXCITED to share this message for the Behold Women's Christmas Event at my church on December 5, 2020. I wanted to share it with you and hope you are encouraged! "And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by...
Threadbare Prayer Podcast Christmas Episode
Hey Friends! I wanted to share a special bonus Christmas episode with you of Threadbare Prayer. I wrote this tiny prayer book last December and as I sat in various Starbucks and Panera's listening to Christmas music, God pressed it on my heart to include a Christmas...
What Brings You to Your Knees in Prayer?
My pastor called me recently and asked this question: "Stacey, if you had about 15 minutes to talk about prayer what would say?" My answer was this, "I would talk about how prayer is how I hold on to Jesus and push back fear." This was an amazing opportunity to share...
What is Making Me The Most Threadbare Today
“…those long-ago deaths in the jungle were just part of her story. For Elisabeth, as for all of us, the most dramatic chapters may well be less significant than the daily faithfulness that traces the brave trajectory of a human life radically submitted to Christ.”...
